Cant' print at all (PDF, PRINT or PRINT PREVIEW)

Trying to print a PDF in AutoCAD LT Mac 2014.

I have tried printing a PDF in preview (through the print dialog) and also exporting to PDF. Neither work. Cant print to a printer either. This is on OSX 10.9.3 and the latest update for LT 2014.

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

Could you provide more details?

What happens when you pick on Preview button in Print window?

Does AutoCAD freezes? Do you see additional small window with print progress:

Or nothing happens?

What printer are you using for Page Setup?

Do you use Custom paper size for your Page Setup?

Maxim

Preview drops me back to the drawing. No print progress bar.

I have 3 printers installed. 2 colour A3 canon printers and an A0 Canon plotter. All network printers

No custom paper, just A3.

Which printer is current when you are trying to preview from Print dialog?

Could you try to create Custom Paper size (hope you know how to do this) - you can select from presets A3 paper size, adjust non-printable area, give this Custom Paper size some name, so you can recognise it.
Assign this Custom paper size to the page setup you are trying to print.
Open Print dialog, verify that your Custom paper size is selected in Paper size drop down list (if not - select it).
Try to preview.
What you get?

when i try that the custome paper is set in the page manager, but when i go to the print dialog, custom paper sizes are grayed out (although it is set to custom) if i try preview now, it still just drops me back to the drawing.

What do you mean by "grayed out"?
You can not select them from the list?

I can select it in the page manager but not in the print dialog before I preview: see screenshot (details of the paper size seem correct though)

And another step - have you tried to use Batch publish to PDF?
You can open Quick view drawings window, select two or more Layouts, right-click on them and select Print, in Batch publish dialog you can remove unnecessary Layouts from Batch list, set publish to PDF, select where files will be saved, select "Create Individual PDFs per Layout" and pick Publish.
What do you get?

Tried that earlier...

But just tried again and whilst it looks like its doing something, I get the publish job progress, then a continous plot log could not be opened for write error. Nothing gets saved and theres no file where I set it to be saved to.

Something is wrong on your Mac with Printing System.
You should be able to manage Custom paper sizes even from Print dialog in AutoCAD, here how it looks on my Mac:

What do you get in VIEWPLOTDETAILS after you Batch publish?

Are you able to manage Custom paper sizes from other application on your Mac, for example from TextEdit?

Try to create new user account on your Mac (with admin privileges)
Then login to this new account, launch AutoCAD and try to save PDF (you may need to copy your test DWG to external disk (USB stick) because you may not be able to open files from your main account.

I have also additional questions:
- You wrote: "I get the publish job progress, then a continous plot log could not be opened for write error." - what plot log do you mean?
- What kind of account you have on your Mac (the account where you can not print from AutoCAD)? Are you log in as root by chance?

Thanks for all the help by the way, really appreciated!!

Were on a corporate network so no root that i'm aware of.

I think you have permissions problems in your original account, but dealing with permissions is very responsible task, so I can not advice you anything without been near your machine, sorry about this...
