Cannot open Mac DWG file on Windows AutoCAD

Hi, 

Just recently installed AutoCAD 2011 for our Macs at work (whilst still having AutoCAD 2008+ for our PCs) and we're having trouble saving files on the Macs and opening them on the PCs, even though we save the DWGs to a lower version in order for it to be compatible.

The error that pops up says, "The DWG file cannot be opened because it was created with a more recent version of AutoCAD." (Again, we make sure that it is saved as a 2008 .dwg file). 

Help please?

There is no special file format for AutoCAD 2008 (it uses 2007 file format)! An you can't save in 2008 DWG format in AutoCAD for Mac:

For me saving in 2007 format works perfectly.

Hi Maxim, 

Sorry, that's what I meant. We've saved it in lower versions (2007 and below) to make it compatible with our PC's 2008 version, but it won't open on any of our PCs (other Macs work fine). Not too sure if this is just a compatibility issue.

Could you try to open my drawing in AutoCAD 2008? It was created in AutoCAD for Mac and saved in 2007 format.

I was able to open your darwing in both acad 2008 and acad 2010.
