Can't open AutoCad 2013 for Mac

Hello,

Cannot open the program. It happened after I was backing up files on an external hard drive. I got message that Autocrat could not continue, asked if I wanted to save the files for recovery ( I opted not too ), and will not open. I get the error report that "a software problem has caused AutoCad to close unexpectedly." It was working fine up until this point.

I sent the report. I have Mac OS X 10.7.3

I read that there is a conflict with some Adobe software which I have but cannot find the way to get rid of the FLEXnet folder.

Any one out there with a solution?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I think it is not FLEXnet issue in your case, but rather this one:

AutoCAD will not launch following a crash on Mac OS X (Lion)

Have you tried this solution?

Still doesn't work. Should there be spaces between words and slashes? Thanks daccordo

cd ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State

- spaces are between "Saved\" and "Application\" and between :Application\" and "State"

If it will not work, could you post Console output during AutoCAD launch?

Is there no space between cd and ~? I left no space the first time and got ...no such file or directory. With the space I get ? Saved Application State. Try to launch program, still doesn't open. daccordo

Yes, there is a space.

Have you run all three commands from the support topic?

cd ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State

then

rm -rf com.autodesk.AutoCAD.savedState

then

rm -rf com.autodesk.autocadlt.savedState

After running the first you should have:

"name of your mac": Saved Application State "short user name"$

in my case it looks:

Maxim-Kanaev-2: Saved Application State max$

How does one post Console output during AutoCAD launch? Have no idea what this does or means.

Thanks,

Hi,

Could it be this:

AutoCAD for Mac fails to launch when installed on migrated Mac hard drive

About Console.app - here:

Try to copy this string and paste it to Terminal window:

sudo mv /Library/Preferences/FLEXnet\ Publisher /Library/Preferences/FLEXnet\ Publisher_old

Press return and provide the admin password when prompted.

Should work!

OK, you don't have FLEXnet preferences folder at all.

Have you ever run AutoCAD on your Mac, or it can not start even for the first time in order to start activation process?

What about Console?

Mine failed to launch when migrated onto new mac and I tried the solution for that but I have no Flexnet folder.  It was running fine before migrating and haven't been able to open it since.  Adobe reader works ok, not sure if that's relevant.

Please advise

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

You wrote: "I've been use AutoCad 2013 on my imac for a while and suddenly it won't launch."

What does it mean "suddenly"? Have you changed something in your System? (updates, software installation)

Do you have Time Machine backup? Can you restore your Mac to the date, when AutoCAD was function properly?

When you tried to remove (uninstall) AutoCAD: did you unchecked "Leave AC preferences..." in uninstallation dialog? If no - try to uninstall with removing preferences.

Maxim

Yes, I've uninstalled the application both ways: leaving the ac checked and then unckecking. I'm see library error or something...dylib?? Make any sense to you. FYI, I humored autodesk and installed 2012. It worked but my kasperske antivirus is roaring like crazy as the same with 2013; when installing the application??

Thanks alot for your insight...I've got projects to work on!!

Hi Jacob,

I think there is an update on your issue with AutoCAD for Mac 2013.

Look at this topic:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/AutoCAD-for-Mac/AutoCAD-2013-trojan-on-library/td-p/4523339

It appears, that Kaspersky antivirus works "against" AutoCAD for Mac and gives a false alarm, further more it moves one of the dynamic library file (essential to AutoCAD) to quarantine, and this prevents the launch of the application.

Maxim

Thanks for looking into this problem, Maxim! I actually figured the problem out and derived the same solution you just mentioned.

So for future inquiries from others:

The issue is a false positive; meaning that the program is recognizing a threat, but the threat is an unresolved issue from the download which does not effect the application or computer.

If anyone is having the same issue, try this:

1. Turn your Anti-Virus off before downloading AC [ In my case I'm using Kaspersky ]
2. Ignore the threat: /Applications/Autodesk/AutoCad 2013/AutoCad 2013.app/Contents/Library/libgelib.dylib
3. Proceed with the download
4. Once the download is successful, quarantine or delete any "false threats"
5. Start the AC application
6. Turn your Anti-Virus back on.

:This should do it:

Just a Recap: The anti-virus software was the actual issue in this case because of its mis-interpretation of the trojan threat within the AC library. Autodesk needs to address this issue, but I think if you follow the above-mentioned steps, the application should work! Definitely quarantine or delete the threat first, then startup AC, then turn the Anti-Virus back on!

Cheers and many thanks to Maxim for delving into the issue
