Hi all
I am a mature Art student and I want to learn Autocad for some of my work.
However,
I know this must sound very basic, but I have just installed the package, but I cannot even open the interface!!
There is only the top bar were I can click on File. If I click on 'new project' or 'new drawing', it opens the dialogue box with all my files. None of those files are suitable to load, therefore nothing happens. Sorry but I cannot use this package whatsoever!
This is drastically dissapointing (not the software its my failure).
Any giudance at all would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the Autodesk Forums!
Hi,
Theoretically you should see Welcome screen when you start AutoCAD for the first time:
You need to select CREATE tab, than select "New" on the left side, than select template file on which your drawing will be based (acad.dwt - for imperial units and acadiso.dwt for decimal units), than click on "Open" button/
But if this does not happen (you don't see Welcome screen) for some reason, and you select "New drawing" from File menu, than you should see this dialog:
ensure that you have "Drawing Template" in "File format" list selected, than select template file you need for your drawing to start new drawing.
