AutoCad Lt for Mac

I have just started using AutoCad Lt for Mac and the software won't shut down. Command quit shuts the drawing down but the software shows it's still running on the dock. Using file quit, the drawing disappears but the computer continues thinking (balloon spinning) until I force AC to quit. Any suggestions, setting to change....?

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

Which AutoCAD LT version you are using and which OS installed on your Mac. For example: for the moment only 2015 version is compatible with OS X 10.10 (Yosemite).

AutoCad LT for Mac is compatible with OS X 10.10, but it isn't necessarily only compatible with 10.10, right?  Is it supposed to run perfectly on OS X 10.9?  I am having the same issues with AutoCad on completely shutting down.  I have to force quit everytime I have been working on a drawing for a while and then close down the program.  Its very frustrating.

Same Issue.  I have to force quit to shud down my computer.  The wheel of doom keeps appearing as well.  Is there a patch?

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,
Please specify your OS, AutoCAD version and Mac model.
How complex are the drawings you edit in AutoCAD?
Do you need to Force Quit even after you open new empty drawing?

AutoCad LT for Mac 2015.

The empty drawing seems close with no issues.  Just tried it.

I am using OS X 10.9.5 on an iMac 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i5 with 8 GB of RAM.  My drawings are not complex.  They are very standard architectural plans, elevations, sections, etc. with minimal blocks for tags and notation.

@Anonymous
Ensure that you installed SP2 and have enough (at least 8 Gb) of RAM.

@dajdesign
Should work, maybe something wrong with your files. Have you tried to use AUDIT command to repair errors?

Yes.  I purge as much as I can out of my files, and I run the audit command regualarly.  I have heard this shutting down issue with the Mac version quite a bit.

I am too having the same issue. However it doesnt happen with an empty drawing. Some of my drawings are quite complex, however others arent as much, but it happens either way when Im using acad for extended periods of time. I have ACAD LT 2015 for mac. Macbook Pro 2.2 GHz, 16GB RAM, OS X 10.9.4. Thanks.

Could anyone please get a sample file when AutoCAD hangs at quit next time?

When AutoCAD hangs, open the Activity Monitor.

In the Activity Monitor find the AutoCAD process, and see it shows in red and labeled as "not responding"

Double click it, and in the pop up dialog click the Sample button. Save the file.

And please send the sample file to me at: wei.ma@autodesk.com. If you have only one drawing open at the time, please send me the drawing as well.

And a quick question, are you using the Rental License or perpetual license?

Thanks,
Wei

I'm having the same issue with 2015LT for MAC (verified latest service pack) on Yosemite 10.10.2.  Initially had no issues.  Now required to Force Quit everytime.  Does not seem to be dependant on file size, complexity, whether I save or don't save the file.  I've tried to close with files open or close all and quit application.  I believe it will shut down when a new drawing is present...  will need to confirm.  I have attached the sample from Activity Monitor...

Rental.  Also I have noted that I can close from the blank file at bootup without issue.  Additionally closing any DWG files and then open a NEW blank template, it will close without an issue.

I'm having the same issue with AutoCAD for Mac 2015 (monthly desktop subscription). I'm on a Mac Pro running OS X Yosemite 10.10.2, 10 GB RAM. I tried to quit from a new, blank drawing and it's not responding still (aka. I have to force quit).
