Autocad LT 2013 _ Yosemite trouble re-install

Hi All,

I had AutoCAD LT Mac 2013 installed on a Mac Pro using Mavericks.  I updated to yosemite and everything was working fine.  I recently installed a new SSD and migrated my applications to the new SSD.  That broke ACAD LT 2013 from starting anymore.

I see that there is now a service pac 3 for yosemity compatibilty BUT since ACAD broke I tried to re-install and had to remove ACAD LT 2013 to try that so I removed it.  Now Yosemite keeps stopping the installation and I get an error message saying that operating system not supported, you need OS 10.6.4  at a minimum.

How are we who have had ACAD uninstalled supposed to apply the patch if we cannot install a fresh copy of ACAD 2013?????  We own that program, I hae afull license, and are out 1,200 bucks due to Yosemite incompatibility for a fresh installation to apply the new service pac.

AutoDesk, do you have a solution to this problem to keep your customers up and operating??  I am a sole proprietor and cannot afford to upgrade to ACAD LT 2015 at this point and I cannot work without AutoCAD.

I have installed Draftsight 2015 temporarily to keep my present projects going but I need my purchased copy of ACAD LT 2013 to work using the provided update for Yosemite compatibility.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

To say true: I cannot find an answer to your question. Theoretically Autodesk should provide new installation image with all Service packs integrated (SP1, SP2 and SP3) to download for those users who already have Yosemite installed on their Macs and need a fresh installation of AutoCAD 2013 for some case.
There was already such a case with SP1 for AutoCAD 2013 for Mac and OSX 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and special installation image was released for AutoCAD 2013 with SP1 integrated in it.

Looks like at the moment there is no such installation image for Yosemite on Autodesk servers, so your question should be addressed to some from Autodesk stuff. Let's wait for the answer from them.

Maxim

I'm having the same issue.  Would love to get this resolved.

What is so frustrating about this is that Autodesk has no direct mechanism to communicate these problems directly to the people who can solve them.  We have to go through this round about forum method and JUST HOPE that someone at Autodesk is monitoring these forums and will do something about the problems we discuss that require Autodesk to solve the problem.

This problem could not have been avoided at least for me, as I had already upgraded to Yosemite and AutoCad LT was working fine.  It was not until I migrated to a new SSD that AutoCAD LT broke under yosemite. Now I cannot get Service pack 2 to install and therefore cannot install service pack 3.  Autodesk needs to provide a service pack 3 that includes all of service pack 1 and service pack 2 so people like us who had a working program under Yosemite can now get it back up and running.  It is not like 2013 will not run in Yosemite, there are just some problems that need attention.  Service pack 3 says it solves thos problems but without service pack 2 how can we possibly run service pack 3?????

We all need to keep prodding Autodesk to fix this in any way we can.  It has disrupted my business and is costing me money and possibly clients.

Hi Richard,

I have found the way to install AutoCAD LT 2013 on Yosemite by using AutoCAD_LT_2013_English_Mac_OSX_R1.dmg installation image.

If you really cannot wait for the solution from Autodesk, I think you can use my trick:

At first I need to say that you should be very careful using this method in order not to break Yosemite on your Mac.

So here are the steps:

1. Locate SystemVersion.plist file inside /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder on your Mac, backup this file somewhere in safe place, than copy it to your Desktop and open with TextEdit.app. You will see this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
	<key>ProductBuildVersion</key>
	<string>14A389</string>
	<key>ProductCopyright</key>
	<string>1983-2014 Apple Inc.</string>
	<key>ProductName</key>
	<string>Mac OS X</string>
	<key>ProductUserVisibleVersion</key>
	<string>10.10</string>
	<key>ProductVersion</key>
	<string>10.10</string>
</dict>
</plist>

2. Using TextEdit.app edit substitute two instances of <string>10.10</string> with <string>10.9.5</string>

The contents of the SystemVersion.plist should look like this:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
	<key>ProductBuildVersion</key>
	<string>14A389</string>
	<key>ProductCopyright</key>
	<string>1983-2014 Apple Inc.</string>
	<key>ProductName</key>
	<string>Mac OS X</string>
	<key>ProductUserVisibleVersion</key>
	<string>10.9.5</string>
	<key>ProductVersion</key>
	<string>10.9.5</string>
</dict>
</plist>

3. Save SystemVersion.plist file, quit TextEdit.app. Than copy edited SystemVersion.plist file from your Desktop back to  /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder and chose "Replace", than enter your Admin password to confirm replacement.

4. Now start AutoCAD LT 2013 installation from the  AutoCAD_LT_2013_English_Mac_OSX_R1.dmg installation image. The installation process should go fine now. After installation apply SP2 for AutoCAD LT 2013 without starting AutoCAD LT.

5. Now put original SystemVersion.plist file which you backed up in step #1 back to  /System/Library/CoreServices/ folder and chose "Replace", than enter your Admin password to confirm replacement.

6. Restart your Mac. You will see AutoCAD LT 2013 icon in the Dock.

7. Apply SP3 for AutoCAD LT 2013 for Mac.

8. Now you can start AutoCAD LT 2013 for the first time after installation, enter license information (your serial and product key), wait for activation and -  now you can use AutoCAD LT 2013!

Check AutoCAD LT 2013 version, it should be now:

Screen Shot 2014-12-28 at 12.59.41.png

The only one "glitch" I noticed after SP3 installation is that AutoCAD gives a warning about availability of the new update, but if you will download this update - it will be the same SP3 which you installed in step #7, so you can ignore this alert.

Maxim

Hi Maxim,

I tried 3 times following your instructions and have had no success.  ACAD LT will not start up.  It tries to start and just stops.

I have a mac Pro mid 2012 , see attached screeen shot.  Maybe that is the problem.

So, have you managed to install AutoCAD on Yosemite? And now it just doesn't start after the installation. Am I correct?

Than, if you migrated to the new SSD everything from your old hard drive, you need to reset AutoCAD standalone license by trashing "FLEXnet" folder which is inside "/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/" folder.
Look at this topic:

What system language do you have on your Mac? If it is not English, try to set English as system language.

Hi,

Have you passed activation window after you remove AutoCAD related Flexnet files when you tried to reset AutoCAD licence? The window should look like this:

Screen Shot 2014-12-30 at 09.33.25.png

Can you post here the contents of System.log (you can find it in Console.app) from the moment when you click on AutoCAD icon in the Dock to the moment when you think AutoCAD stops to respond?

Definitely it is a problem of activation.
Could you try another method of resetting the license:
- restart your Mac,
- trash "FLEXnet Publisher" folder from /Library/Preferences folder ( the Library folder in the root of your Mac HD)
- now start AutoCAD again.
If you are on-line the activation should occur automatically an you should receive activation confirmation from Autodesk by e-mail.

Maxim,

Trashed that folder and restarted autoCAD and got this error message.  See screen shot attached to this message.

This is getting very frustrating and I am now way behind in my work.

I have installed Draftsight which is incredibly similar to AutoCAD, has a low learning curve due to that similarity, it is totally free and runs very well on Yosemite.  I have to use that to catchup on my work and cannot spend anymore time on trying to get AutoCAD LT to work on Yosemite.  My recommendation to anyone else in this forum that has a similar problem with AutoCAD LT not running on Yosemite is to go to the Draftsight web page and download Draftsight 2015 for mac.  You can use that program to get your work done until something comes along to fix this rediculous lack of customer service by Autodesk.

http://www.3ds.com/products-services/draftsight-cad-software/free-download/

Thanks for all your efforts, Maxim, they are much appreciated BUT I have to get my projects taken care of.  Maybe once I catch up I can spend more time on getting this situation corrected.

Again, thanks for all your hard work.

I'm sure Autodesk will make new installation image for AC LT (and full) 2013 that will work on Yosemite in near future, than you can remove current "bad" installation of AC LT 2013 from your Mac and reinstall it in proper way with new installer.

Has anyone had success installing AC LT 2013 SP3 in yosimite?

Shouldn't the Mac App Store already have SP2 and thus be able to install in yosimite?  Will the app store get the SP3 update?

What is the meaning of life?  Why are we here?
