The MAC version is great, except that AutoCad freezes when I try to modify a variable in a block... Then I have to force quit the App, and the result, all data is lost!

(AutoCad 2014, MacBook Pro 2013, OS 10.9, Mavericks)

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,
Do you mean you trying to edit block attribute (you call it variable)?
Does this happens in all or just in one file?
Could you post this file here (you can remove everything from it except the problem block).

Maxim

Hi Maxim,

Yes you are correct. It happens when I modify a block attribute, I have
tried the block on three other pc?s, with windows, and AutoCad 2014.
The problem even comes when i modify variables in DDIM, when I try to save,
AutoCad freezes... This problem occurred the first time after I installed
AutoCad 2014 for Mac, and after the Mavericks update came...

Sincerely
Einar.

Hi Einar,

Are you sure that you have AutoCAD 2014 for Mac? Symptoms you describe (problems with editing block attributes and problems with Dimension Style dialog) are specific for AC 2013 for Mac installed on Mac with Mavericks.
Could you post screenshot of "About AutoCAD" window (you can call it from AutoCAD menu)?

Hi there,

I love the mac version other than one frustrating occurance that keeps happening to me. Whenever I run Dimension Style Manager and try to create a custom style, the program crashes.

I am operating on version 10.9 Mavericks on a 15" Macbook Pro (2013). Please advise!

Thank you,

Darcie

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Darcie,

AutoCAD 2013 is not compatible with OS X 10.9 at the moment. You have to wait for SP2, or try to download Beta version of SP2 for AC 2013 for Mac:

Hey Maxim,
I am so embarrassed now! After upgrading to Mavericks I had a faulty
installation of AutoCad 2014, so the only AutoCad available in my Programs
folder was the 2013 version. On my mid-term test yesterday i was a bit
stressed and did not notice that I was working in the 2013 version? Finally
installed the 2014 version now, and it works 🙂
Have a fantastic day, and thanks for great help and quick answers 🙂
Sincerely
Einar.

I like it much more then the previous versions. It feels a lot more natural the interface, but I miss some commands like breakline, text2mtxt and others.

I have the new Macbook Pro Retina 15'' (late 2013) born with Mavericks. When I install Autocad (any version, trial/student and 2013/2014) on my Macbook, something is wrong with graphics performance.

When I swipe back and forth between my desktop and others apps, the icons on the desktop flicker for a second...there is a scrolling lag in Safary, pdf documents, moving a window and everywere.

This problem keeps if I uninstall Autocad and morover in Utility OSX.

I can solve only with recovery with time machine in a point without Autocad or formatting the ssd and reinstalling Mavericks.

Is not a problem of my Macbook because I have a new one from Apple because I could't recognise that the problem is when I install Autocad.

Autocad for windows 8 on Parallels works good, but Autocad for Mac running better (before it damnage my MAcbook..)

Others applications run very good (Photoshop, Artlantis, Premiere,..)

Apple support can't help me and I think is a problem of al new Macbook.

Sorry if this is not the right place to post this message but I can't find where I can post a message.

Sorry for my English because I'm Italian.

Hi Riccardoamato88,

We noticed the discussions about the swipe-lag issue you experienced. We also see that this happens after you force quit AutoCAD for Mac. An easy workaround is to launch AutoCAD for Mac and quit normally.

Anyone who see similar issue, please try the workaround and let me know if it works or not. We will set guard to prevent the issue after force quit AutoCAD for Mac in update in future.

Thanks,
Wei

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,

What do you mean by "lag'ing"?
In order to give you correct answer without additional questions I need to look at one of your problem files. Could you post it here or send to my e-mail: mkanaev at yandex.ru ?

Hi!
If you previously had a AutoCAD 2013 version installed on your Mac, you need to completely uninstall this version before installing the 2014 version.

The 2014 version works like a clock for me.

I would recommend to work with your files locally, and not work in the cloud, as the Mac version has some problems if you have a slow internet connection...

Hope this was helpful!

Hi Riccardo, I have the same issue, but one day I found XBench and made a graphic test (only that) and the lagging was gone. After quitting Autocad 2014 make the XBench test. Hope it helps.

Runs pretty well. Pan and zoom aren't as fluid as they are in windows. I would love an update to 2012 Lt for Mavericks.  It is an excellent OS. In the meantime I may just downgrade to Mountain Lion.

Message 19 of 141

I have the exact same problem. It happened after I upgraded to OS X Mavericks. All files, all blocks. Very annoying. I now have to explode my blocks before I can edit. You would think for $900 Autodesk could address this in an update (in a timely fashion).
