AutoCAD for Mac keeps reverting to 'Wireframe' from '2D Wireframe'

Hello,

I have received a drawing from a Surveyor which has items with 3d attributes like contour lines and a tennis court set to a certain elevation. I have asked them to save it back and flatten it all to a zero elevation.  They are using AutoCAD Civil 3D and have flattened it and saved it to both AutoCAD 2010 and 2007 with a visual style of 2D Wireframe.  I am using AutoCAD 2014 for Mac. When I receive the files, I open both of them to the same result: They open in the 2D wire frame' visual style and everything appears flat in plan view. When I save or AutoCAD autosaves, the screen background becomes gray (from black) and the visual style turns to 'wireframe'. Some of the points and symbols become skewed or move, until I reselect '2d wireframe'.  Others in my office have opened the file and when they save it, it does not change to 'wireframe' on their computers. They are also using AutoCAD 2014 for Mac.

Frustrated, please help-

JW

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi JW,

it is really strange behavior.
Do you use parallel o perspective view?
Have you tried to reset AutoCAD?

Yes it is pretty strange. I have not had this problem with any other file.

I have reset AutoCAD and it did not help and still reverts to Wireframe.

I am in parallel view, top, and it keeps switching from 2D wireframe back to wireframe. I tried perspective but it didnt change anything- I am hoping to get a top "plan" view in 2D Wireframe.

This time when I opened the file it opened gray in 'wireframe'. Up until this point it has been opening in 2D wire frame, top, parallel. Its almost like the file is degrading. I brought this to the attention of the person who sent me the file and they have said that it seems to be a problem between Civil 3D on PC to AutoCAD on MAC but I've never had the problem before.

Have you tried to use AUDIT command to repaire errors in this file?
Could you post screen shots of this file before it goes to Wireframe Visual Style and after?

Thanks Maxim,

I went ahead and Auditted and Purged a few times and it did not change.

I have attached photos below.

Before- is when I open it and change it to 2D Wireframe and begin to work.

After-is after I save it and it reverts to Wireframe.

I appreciate the help,

JW

Hi JW,

It seems I know how to solve the situation.
Try this:
- open your file,
- from the command line set SKYSTATUS=2, than set SKYSTATUS=0
- change Visual Style to 2D Wireframe, save the drawing.
It should stay with 2D Wireframe VS now.
