AutoCad for BOTH Mac and Windows 7. PLEASE HELP!!

I need to download the student version of AutoCad for school.  The problem is that I have a Mac and operate OS X 10.6.  At school the computer lab uses Windows 7.

1.) Will my files be cross-compatible? (i.e. can I save a AutoCad file on a flash drive at school and go home and work on my project with my Mac at home?)

2.) If the files won't be cross-compatible, what do I need to do to get this done? (I think I will have to install Windows 7 64-bit on my Mac and just go that route.)
