Autocad 2016 Mac fail to install

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi,

I have recently uninstalled all of my previous AutoCAD versions and files, following the uninstall information on this forum https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Clean-...

Since then, I have tried to re-install my version of AutoCAD mac 2016, and the installer runs to about 90% before saying the installation has failed, and I should contact Autodesk. See screenshot.

Is anyone able to help me with this, as it was working fine just a couple of days ago?

Thanks

David

Hi,

Have you tried to restart your Mac? Than start installation again.
Maybe you will be able to find some useful information about installation process in System.log file (Console application)

Hi maxim_k

Thanks for trying to help so quickly.

Yes, I have tried uninstalling / reinstalling and restarting.

Please see the errors that are coming up in the console in attachment.

Thanks

Looks like log information you attached is not the installation log, but rather AutoCAD launch log after unsuccessful installation. Can you remove AutoCAD, than reboot your Mac and start installation again.
Than post console output here (if installation will fail)

The installation was successful?
Have you got an error during installation?
Are you launching AutoCAD from Dock now?

No, the same error message came up as before (the attachment with the yellow warning triangle saying the software had failed to install)

Having looked at the applications folder, the AutoCAD 2016 app is there, but when you click on it, it just bounces in the dock, runs the splash page, and then quits automatically before opening.

I have now included a screen shot of the console after trying to run AutoCAD

Sorry, I have no idea.
Let's wait for response from some of Autodesk employees.

Hi David,

It seems AutoCAD is not installed properly so it fails to launch. Could you attached you install log file so I can take a look? You can find install log at the following place:

/var/log/install.log

Thanks,

Hao Fang

Hi David,

I'm not a big specialist in AutoCAD installation process, but looks like the installation failed during running license/registration process:
"postinstall...
Opening the serial file...
Can't get the license info...
Install Failed....
An error occurred while running scripts from the package "Install Autodesk AutoCAD 2016 for Mac.pkg"...
file://localhost/Volumes/Autodesk AutoCAD 2016 for Mac Installation/Install Autodesk AutoCAD 201 for Mac.pkg#licreg.pkg..."

Has been AutoCAD installed on your system before?
If yes - I'd recommend you to cleanup license information as described here:

Hi David, Please try the following steps in sequence: 1. Quit A360 from the top right menu bar, and then reinstall AutoCAD, see if it works. 2. If not, remove all the contents in the folder /tmp, and retry the installation. Thanks, Hao Fang

Thanks, but I am still having the exact same outcome.

I have tried:

1) Removing and cleaning AutoCAD licensing as per previous post

2) Quitting A360

3) Removing all contents of /tmp

I still have the exact same error messgage that the software failed to install (see my first post)

Please help

OK, let's see if the following workaround can work.

1. Download the attached file, double click to unzip it, you'll get a script file named installAcad.

2. Open a Terminal windows, drag installAcad on it, then press Return button to see a help how to use it.

Typically you need to input the following information like this:

installAcad pkgPath licenseType serialNumber productKey

NOTE: if you see a security message when running the script you need to allow it from System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Allow apps downloaded from Anywhere.

I am trying to do this but I am not sure how exactly I am supposed to input the information. You say to "installAcad pkgPath licenseType serialNumber productKey". Am I supposed to string all that information together in one line? Separate lines? I am new-ish to Terminal and I really don't know how to do this. Would you be able to assist me?
