Hi md,
1. Quit AutoCAD.
2. Open Terminal.app
3. To set default format for save to AutoCAD 2004 format - copy this string an paste it to Terminal command prompt:
defaults write "com.autodesk.AutoCAD LT.R19.0.ACADLT-B033.409" "HKEY_CURRENT_USER.SOFTWARE.AUTODESK.AUTOCAD LT.R19·0.PROFILES.<<UNNAMED PROFILE>>.GENERAL.DEFAULTFORMATFORSAVE" -int 24
4. To revert back:
defaults write "com.autodesk.AutoCAD LT.R19.0.ACADLT-B033.409" "HKEY_CURRENT_USER.SOFTWARE.AUTODESK.AUTOCAD LT.R19·0.PROFILES.<<UNNAMED PROFILE>>.GENERAL.DEFAULTFORMATFORSAVE" -int 60

what would the code be for regular autocad 2013? not LT? i've been searching everywhere for the answer and cannot find it. and what is the code for default file format in 2002?
Hi,
Not a problem. Here are the codes:
1 - AutoCAD R12 DXF
12 - AutoCAD 2000 DWG
13 - AutoCAD 2000 DXF
24 - AutoCAD 2004 DWG
25 - AutoCAD 2004 DXF
36 - AutoCAD 2007 DWG
37 - AutoCAD 2007 DXF
48 - AutoCAD 2010 DWG
49 - AutoCAD 2010 DXF
50 - AutoCAD 2010 DWT
60 - AutoCAD 2013 DWG
61 - AutoCAD 2013 DXF
62 - AutoCAD 2013 DWT
For AutoCAD 2002 use "12" (AutoCAD 2000 DWG)

thank you.
but what about the code to enter in terminal? because it is different for the full version of autocad 2013 than lte? and the "set av" "DefaultFormatForSave" does not work i'm afraid.
For full version of AutoCAD you don't need to use Terminal, look here:

Why? What AutoCAD do you have? (version, LT or full)
If you have full AutoCAD 2013 - should work!
Maxim
I do have the full version. but the command has changed.
setev is now setvar, which i do, but when i enter "DefaultFormatForSave""24" after it, it says it does not recognize the command in my command line.
I'm so sorry to bother again, but it's important for me to find out how to do this because i really need it! I have autocad 2013, i already got to the terminal.app but i don't know what Terminal command prompt means. I'm not good at this things, so please help me! It might be easy for you, but could you please explain it better for me to undestand. Thanks for the reply anywas 🙂
The thing is i don't know which cad i've, but anyways, i've tryed both or should i say i made my best trying to understand what to do or where to go and click. I couldn't find where to paste the changes to the terminal.app, i just went to the application file and opened it's content but still couldn't find where to paste that stuff. And i've also tried pasting the "defaultformatforsave" in the enviroment variable but i don't even know if i'm doing it well. I've read all the conversations about this topic but i can't quite understand, think i'm pretty lost. HELP!
Hi Annie,
There was a long delay, but anyway, you can try this:
Setting Default Format For Save in AutoCAD LT For Mac
Maxim
Hi there, thank you so much for the answer! It's really helping me. Ok, so it was easy downloading the app and using it, but... how can i know if it works, 'cause when i go to the menu, save as it still shows cad 2013. Thanks anyways, hope there's a way to know if it works that you can tell me.
ANNI
Hi Anni,
Finally it is time to finally find out what version of AutoCAD LT 2013 do you have on your Mac. And what version of OSX do you have (10.7 or 10.8).
On my systems everything works fine - I have tested app on Snow Leopard and on Lion.
Maxim
I have Mac OSX 10.6.8 but i don't know where to find my autocad version, it says product version G.55.M.2
My boyfriend has Mac OSX 10.8.1 so would that app work for him? Thanks!
hi! i've autocad 2013 for mac OSX 10.8.2 and I would set auto save as previous versions. I try to set setvar "DefaultFormatForSave" "36", but the message is Unknown variable name. Type SETVAR ? for a list of variables.
any help i will be thankful!
