AutoCAD 2013 fails to start in OSX Mavericks

Hi,

I have looked around a bit, but haven't found this recently. Saw a post about AutoCAD for Mac 2014, but the plist file doesn't exist in the 2013 installation.

I have re-downloaded all files twice Trial, SP1, Beta SP2, and now the gerneral release of SP2 and the same issue in mavericks. I open the application from the applications folder, It show the splash screen with the word "loading" at the bottom, icon is bouncing, then it crashes. 100% of the time.

I am running a bradn new Mac Book Pro, with 10.9 installed.

Please help!! I appreciate it.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi,
Could you say, please, where did you get installation for trial version of AC 2013 for Mac now. It seems that only 2014 version available for downloading as trial for the moment.
But anyway, if you already have 2013 installation image (media) and you want to install it on Mavericks, you can install it and then update with SP2.
Have you passed Activation stage after you install AutoCAD for the first time? - if everything was correct with first installation you should be able to start AC 2013 even without SP2 installed.
So what about activation?

Maxim

About 6 weeks ago,  I got the download from here. Transcript copied and pasted:

"

Rose: I will provide the link.
Rose: Please click here to download.
Rose: Did it open for you?
Rose: On the customer service page, please click on the yellow "Ask" button.
Rose: And then Download Links.
Rose: And then Mac Products.
Rose: And then AutoCAD.
Rose: And then AutoCAD for Mac 2013.

"

Which is a link to your virtual assistant. You drill down and it is still avaliable there today.

I was directed to there by an online chat specialist from Autodesk Live Chat - Rose.

Yes, I passed the activation screen fine. It installs perfectly. I can do whatever you wish, so please tell me what to do to wipe, clean, and reinstall?

I appreciate your assistance. I really do.

So you want to say, that after activation it doesn't launch at all, and you can not start to work with drawings?
Did you activated it as trial, or you have purchased the license?
BTW - I can not understand why you have chosen 2013 version, but not 2014, which is fully compatible with Mavericks?

Ok,

I just uninstalled by the AuoCAD uninstallation tool once more.... Rebooted.

Installed the 2013 Trial, and during the installation, it requests for activation options, and that is where I put in my purchased ACAD2013 for MAC serial and the product key....

All goes well and the installation application closes without any errors.

To clarify, to this point only installed the application from the AutoCAD_2013_English_Mac_OSX_R1.dmg. No service packs.....

Tried to open from the applications folder, the splash pages comes up, says loading, icon is bouncing, then crashes and has the error reporting tool comes up.

What should I try next? What service pack?

I bought AutoCAD 2013 in Feb of this year, and upgraded to Mavericks... 2014 wasn't avaliable...

Message 7 of 23

Now it's little bit clear. Entering serial during installation and passing this stage doesn't mean passing an activation. It seems you did not passed activation for your current installation.
How did you upgrade to Mavericks? Was it completely new installation of OS with migrating from Time Machine backup? Or you update your system "above" existing Mountain Lion (or Lion) installation?

The Mac Book Pro was brand new with Mavericks preinstalled.

Then did a Time Machine transfer of files and settings and applications (including ACAD 2013) which was when the problem started. Thats when I did a straight service patch (Beta 2) and still the issue persisted.

Do you think there are lingering files that came across? Plist, Library etc?

Question 1:

Should I re-reinstal and activate as a trial? Then once it opens correctly in trail mode, enter the serial?

Question 2:

If so should I delete folders that may have transfered with the TM transfer?

Thanks,

If you already reinstalled AutoCAD 2013 on your Mac with your serial, and as you migrated from TM backup, then you need at first "repaire" your activation, as now you have activation information from previous Mac.
Try this solution to accomplish this task:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/dl/item?siteID=123112&id=16276182&linkID=15839490

Than, after AutoCAD will start normally, update it with SP2 (you can use Check for updates from AutoCAD menu)

Hope this will solve your problem.

Thank you very much....

Sort of followed the instructions, but getting rid of the old folder and reinstalling worked. The Terminal commands didn't work, so I manually dug into the Library folder and renamed.

Thanks again.

Hi Maxim_K, the Flexnet solution did not work for my computers, it was not in the library folder and a search of it came up empty.  I have 3 mac computers at the office and all had the autocad 2013 LT on them with maverick running fine for over a month.   Then one by one each computer froze for one reason or another over about 4 weeks the latest one being today.  When we rebooted them AutoCad no longer worked.  Now they are getting the same startup screen as previously mentioned but then go straight to crash error report.  I have tryied uninstalling, restarting the computers and reinstalling CAD from a disc,  the SP1 and SP2 and then trying to open cad but nothing seems to be working.

The acadlt.err file says:

FATAL ERROR:

12/20/2013 at 16:46:25.962 Drawing:
-------------

FATAL ERROR:

12/20/2013 at 16:51:32.357 Drawing:
-------------

FATAL ERROR:

01/02/2014 at 18:21:44.544 Drawing:
-------------

... so that doesn't seem like much help.

Anything else I post that would be helpful?

Thanks

Please answer Wei's request about Report ID - this could help to identify the problem.

Thanks for the quick reply, I have sent 2 error reports in (computer 1 and 2, third computer not here at the moment).

Computer 1 Report ID is: CER_90038108

Computer 2 Report ID is: CER_90038640

Computer 1 is the one that has had everything reinstalled

Computer 2 is still the origianl install.  If that makes any difference.

wei503, have you had a chance to review my issue yet?  I need to get this issue figured out as quickly as possible.  With three of our CAD computers down its not good for business.

Message 16 of 23

Nevermind, I got it working by removing the Flexnet Folder as stated here, autodesk solution .  I was searching the user library instead of the computer library, which is why Flexnet was not showing up.

I am having the same problems. AutoCAD 2013 fails to start in Mavericks. I've run "Remove AutoCAD 2013" and reinstalled. Installation successful. When launching AutoCAD2013, the icon jumps for a couple minutes, then stops. Program never starts.

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Have you tried the solution with Flexnet publisher folder described earlier in this thread?

Yes, give teh Flexnet solution a try, just be sure to search your hard drive "library" folder and not the user library folder.

When in Finder, under the "GO" menu, type this into go to folder    /Library/Application Support   flexnet should be in there.  just move to desktop and reinstall autocad.  make sure you have both the service packs installed too.
