adding an image to curved surface. Is it possible?

I am wanting to put a banner on a curved roof. It is only curved in one plane, akin to half of a tin can. I have tried exporting to photoshop, that wont work, i've tried creating a texture, that isn't supported, I've tried manipulating a placed raster image. Nope. I fail to believe that an app this powerful cant bend a flat image. Please help.

I'm afraid it is impossible in AC for Mac, as you can not create custom textures in it.
