Adding a Hatch...

Hello all-

First time poster, anyways, ow do i add a hatch pattern on a mac?

In windows, my buddy gave me a file to replace called acad.pat and he basically gave me many more hatch patterns.  Can I use the same file from windows to add those hatch patterns on my mac, or is there even a way to get those patterns from my pc to my mac?

Thanks.

HI,

Yes, you can use acad.pat file from Windows version of AutoCAD. You can replace default acad.pat file (in "~/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/roaming/AutoCAD 2011/R18.1/enu/Support/"), but I would recommend you at first make backup the original file (say - to rename it to acad_pat.old).

As alternative - you can append default acad.pat with your own hatch patterns.

As for another custom hatch pattern files (with only one hatch definition per file), I would suggest to make separate folder for it, and add this folder to Files Support Search Path in Application section of AutoCAD Preferences (hope you know how to do this). Then your custom hatch patterns will appear in Custom tab of Hatch Pattern Palette dialog:

Note also that the AutoCAD for MAC already has a large number of hatch patterns, other than those defined in acad.pat file (see Custom tab of Hatch Pattern Palette dialog)

HTH

Maxim
