Spot which electrical cad software is not on this list

BY engaging with the component manufactures you get this so why dos'ent the guys at Autodesk get it this is hurting you more on a daily basis's

Would like to see more in the parts database and links to other manufacturers. Comunication to manufacturers is in need of improvment on both Autodesk and the manufacturers. If you use a manufacturer and you don't see them in the list when installing. Let them know about AutoCAD Electrical and tell them to talk to Autodesk about getting in the database.

From previous postings from Autodesk employees Autodesk expects component manufactures to take the entire burden and give Autodesk a fully functional parts list with all associated data for little or no return for then

 

Needless to say who would take that deal?

 

So that’s basically why ACADE is so patchy and inconsistent and wrong when it comes to parts data

 

Eplan went a different route with their live server because obviously if you download any part details as part of your T's& C's your information is passed over to the parts manufactures hence potential sales leads

 

So there is a measurable return for their efforts

 

And that’s the whole game here

 

Still not consulting

Havent given up hope on making ACADE work as good as the market leaders

If a database was easy to control then everyone would be doing it. Databases even more important content is a tough topic to cover because Manufacturers are constantly discontinuing and creating new products. Autodesk needs to be involved with more manufacturers in a centralized location and interface parts as well as block with the Electrical software. If a manufacturer wants to improve their market share in the world of manufacturing then they should be taking the first step in getting there name in the software. That's called marketing. This does not cost them anything to be in the software and it exposes them to potential new customers. There is always a cost up front but once your in the cost goes way down. Think about the bigger picture and not the initial burden and things step into place. If change never cost anyone anything then everyone would be doing it. Change and adaptivity always cost money.

yeah we sorta agree but dont

 

the problem with acade in europe is its lack of reputation which is a contributing factor to manafactures dis-intrested in getting involved with autodesk

 

autodesk have fundementally got it wrong with bundling up parts data with the install but wont admit it

 

eplan /wscad/see electrical which are 3 of the big players here in europe use the same method

 

a server link with live data being managed by the ecad companies they see the benefit of this type of relationship but autodesk in its dogma want to reinvent the wheel again and its hurting them

 

all they have to do is just sort it out but it seems rather than follow what has proven to be a sucessfully implemeation by its competitors it wants to stay in catch up mode

 

Havent had my lobotomy yet so i cant become a consultant

have high hopes that within the next few yers acasd will only be 10 years behind the competion

Problem with a live or server link is that it shackles you to locations where a net connection is available.

 

If you are in the middle of nowhere and need to update dwg components on a laptop, you are up the proverbial with a net based database.

With a local database, you have all that data on hand.

 

Don't lose sight of the fact that there are significant portions of the planet that still don't have internet access.

That’s not how the sever link works

 

I may have been a bit vague on how the whole system works

 

What happens in the normal scheme of things you would use the parts database inside your application

 

But if you don’t have a particular part then you link to the server you can either do the following

 

1) Navigate to the component you want and download that single component

 

2) Download a complete range of supplier’s components

 

3) Build up a shopping cart of picked items from various ranges and suppliers

 

These then download and become part of your parts database

 

So the middle of nowhere doesn’t apply here

 

And you have the added advantage of new parts data being added in a single location

 

The two that I use on a regular basis puts on the main page what’s been added since i last logged in

 

the fundamental issue is all ACADE's competitors have gone down this road and their salesmen can quite rightly point out that ACADE is  the only major product not doing this

 

The reasons behind this are varied and can be basically broken down into the following

 

1) Autodesk didn’t come up with the idea so it can’t be any good (anybody remembers bill gates comment that the internet won’t be of any use?)

 

2) Autodesk has the wrong attitude trying to engage with the component supplies

 

3) The component supplies see no benefit in getting involved with ACADE

 

It’s interesting to point out that Rockwell’s ABECAD which was the only product that directley Acade what’s happing with that nowadays?

 

Finally and this tells you quite a lot

 

Can you find a website from a component supplier that has fully downloadable and functioning Acade templates symbols and parts data?

 

I cant at present

 

but just Google "Eplan parts data" and see how many hits you get

 

Being a consultant is giving reasons why you cant do something

In AutoCAD Electrical, too free filling of these components base. This advantage on the one hand and, on the other hand has a drawback. As a result, anyone can create their own database, which is not clearly defined such as placing such a parameter as catalog part number (this parameter is ignored and electromechanical assembly in the Inventor, which is why you can not get it a full specification. It is planned to data from the assembly transfer to AutoCAD Electrical, but in the 2016 version this is not possible and how to deal with the details of such a standard library of Inventor -. bolts, nuts, etc., if I add them to the electromechanical assembly)?. And much more...

 

As a result, equipment manufacturers are simply unable to provide anything to add to the AutoCAD Electrical database. No normal tool to add a new component or group of components to an existing database to a third party manufacturer.

when are they going to admit the autodesk method of parts management is rubbish !!!!!!
