Wire Label Color/Gauge Setup

I just finished up setting up my wire color/gauge labels and all seems to be working well except that I changed the default layer for the text and arrows to go on. The problem is the layer settings get reset to the default layer values when I switch between projects or I close Autocad Electrical and open it back up. All other settings (size, arrow type, etc.) are remembered - it is just the layers that are lost. This is using Autocad Electrical 2010. Anyone have any ideas on where I can set this to be permanent? I looked around in Project Settings and a few other places but I didn't find much.

This is not saved as a project or drawing property. Once you set it on this
dialog it is only saved for that AcadE session.

You can set this in your wd.env file if you want. At the very bottom of the
wd.env file that is supplied, there are a few global variables that can be
set so that each time AcadE launches these are set. The ones that apply to
what you want to do are:

*SETQ:GBL_wd_colga_leaderlay,"SYMS"
*SETQ:GBL_wd_colga_textlay,"MISC"

So look for those lines and take out the "*" in front. The "*" comments out
the line. Then put your layer name in place of the ones there, "SYMS",
"MISC".

The wd.env file is typically located in the My Documents\AcadE 2011\AeData.

Hope this helps,

What is the best way to get the additional Wire Type information from one drawing to another? I figured out how to get the actual layers by using Settings Compare but that only gets me raw layer names and not the wire color, size and additional user information attached.

I understand once this is configured in the template it isn't an issue however I just figured out the Wire Type functionality and got it set up in a project but now I have multiple other projects that were already started with the template when it didn't have Wire Types configured. Is there an easy way to get these settings into the existing projects without having to re-enter it into every drawing file in each project?

If you are using AcadE 2011 there is an Import Wire Type option on the
Project-Wide Utilities. If not, I believe there might be some examples on
this forum of scripts people have written that use the c:ace_new_wiretype
API. Then this script can be run on a project using the Project-Wide
Utilities feature. Let me know if you can't find any examples of this
approach.
