Wire Gap Issue - Not allowing selection of wire to cross

Hi,

I am having an issue which I am sure will turn out to be a simple solution but i can't seem to find the answer anywhere online. I am trying to insert a wire gap for two crossing wires in a drawing as it does not happen automatically. Yet when I choose "wire gap" and then "wire to stay solid" it leads me to choose"wire to gap" - here is the issue - It simply will not accept the wire to gap. I have drawn random wires to see if this works but still to no avail. Hoping someone can help.
