I am inserting drawngs created in ACAD and I am trying to change components to blocks and assign attributes,
Any help isappreciated

Yes they can...

Open the 'Conversion Tools' on the ribbon or the
add the toobar to your workspace.

There are tools there to convert lines to wires and
swap/update the blocks to ACADE blocks.

Some tools will also change text to wire numbers,
add attributes to blocks and so on.

Make a backup of your original drawing first
before working  on it, until you feel you are proficient enough to not
need the safety net.

The main tool to change lines to wires is the
'Change/Convert Wire Type'.

To swap plain ACAD blocks to ACADE blocks, use the
'Swap/Update Block' tool, which can be applied to the active dwg or the
project.

Your other option is to redo the drawing from
scratch using electrical (NOT the best option), but should be a last
resort.
