What's the signifcance of a dash before a tag?

On one of my drawings the components have dashes before the tags eg. "-S1" They weren't there to start with (when I first placed them). I may have done something I shouldn't have!

The problem is that when I place another component of the same type elsewhere in the project, the dialog suggests "S1" for the component, when I already have an "S1".

I have gone back and re-tagged all these components.

Just wondered how the dashes came to be there.

Thanks,

John

John,

This leading dash is the default if you have the European IEC-style tagging
mode turned "ON".

If this isn't what you want, either turn this mode OFF (Project dialog -->
Misc Settings in 2004/2005 or right-click on for 2006 - Project name in
project list and select Properties) or run the IEC Tag Mode Format freshen
utility (Projects pulldown) and toggle the 2nd box ON.

Nate.
