Turn on Tool Palette

For some reason beyond my comprehension, I can not find a way to turn on the tool palette that is on the right of the display area in 2006 electrical. How do I do this and why does the Help search not find anything for "palette"?

The command is TOOLPALETTES. The online help is separated into two main
groups, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical, If a command can be used in plain
AutoCAD then the help for it will be found in the AutoCAD Help. Did you
search in the AutoCAD Help? I don't have 2006 so I can't verify this but in
2008 there are a number of topics found when you search on palette in the
AutoCAD Help.

I have three separate Help pull down menus and I have used them all. I was not aware that was an AutoCAD function since I have only seen it in ACADE. I have found the TOOLPALETTE command previously and have tried it (and just did it again) but nothing happens. Is it possible it is off the screen someplace and I can't find it?

Was there any error message when you used the command? (make sure you type
TOOLPALETTES (with the s). This isn't my area of expertise I'm afraid so I
am not sure I have any more ideas. If it is off the screen you could try
changing your screen resolution in Windows and see if it shows up. If that
doesn't do it you might try posting in the AutoCAD general newsgroup.

Sorry I wasn't more help,

You were an extreme help. It turned out I was not using the "S" as a suffix to TOOLPALETTES (in this case S is for that was Stupid). Thanks for your time and I will try to get this dyslexia think under control.

The only reason I noticed it was because I do it every time. I copied and
pasted it from the help to make sure I spelled it right in my email. Glad it
worked.

Hello,

I am currently running AutoCAD Electrical 2016. I have 'lost' the use of the Properties Palette. Or, maybe it is hidden off screen (I am running two screens)? At any rate, I want it docked on the right of my drawing area. I have experienced this problem intermittantly. Not sure why. Has anyone else experienced this and, if so, how did you fix it?

Regards,

Rick Yoerger

I don't have 2016, but typing "PROPERTIES" in the command line should bring it back. If that doesn't work, that may indicate that it is off-screen somewhere that you can't see. If that's the case, I'm not sure how you can find it.

However, if you can get the Properties palette back, then go ahead and position it the way you want, and save the workspace. That should help it to stay put.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Thanks Jim,

I'm very experienced with AutoCAD and not unaware with AutoCAD Electrical.

I have already tried all the things you mentioned. I seem to remember there was a way to get off-screen palettes and tools to reappear, but cannot remember what that was and I'm not even sure it would help in my case.

Any other ideas?

Regards,

Rick Yoerger

I found this post elsewhere. Does it help you?

This was the fix...

Type CUI at command line > Return > select the work space you work in (upper left window) > select Palettes (upper right window) > scroll down and select Properties > make the following changes (see attached picture) and close/restart AutoCAD.

Properties_Issue_001.PNG

For some reason "Show" was set to "No", and the "Size" were both zero (0). Not sure if the settings will 'stick', but it's working right now.

There is a way to "drag" a dialog box that is off screen back to on screen.

Press ALT+Spacebar then press M. Now you can use the arrow keys to move the dialog box around.

I tested that, it doesn't work with palettes, only dialog boxes.

THANK YOOOOOOOOOOO! Seems so easy, why can't they just say "Type TOOLPALETTES" in the Help section to turn it on?  JEEZ!!!
