Software locking up

A change came down from on high, to switch out a component. When I deleted the component and inserted the new component. ACADE will not allow me to use the same item number for the new component. Everything I try locks the software up.

Is there anyway to get ACADE to let go of an item number?

It should not lock up if you use the same item number. Have you tried performing a database refresh? oOr delete the scratch database and let it rebuild itself. This should purge the original item number.

I should ask, when you deleted the component, did you also delete the panel component that matched (if it existed)?  This would still havet he item number attached to it.

Just a couple of things to try right off the top of my head.

I usd the delete component command of the pull down. ANd thought that took care of everything required by the software.

How do I elete the scratch database ?

Yeah, delete conponent is the right way to do it.

THe scratch database is in your user profile at

C:\Users\{username}\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical {year}\R{number}\{language}\Support\User

It will be the name of the project + .mdb
