SET Files Suggestion

I don't know if this is possible, or if there are reasons why this hasn't been done. I'd like the SET files to save the Put on Drawing settings for all reports. Overall, I am very pleased with the Automatic Reposrt Generator in ACE2007, so this is not a "biggie". But it would be nice. Thanks.

Never mind. I figured it out and got it to work.

Martin, the unique thing about this report is that the avaialble fields can
change due to the title block setup. These fields are unknown until you run
the report on actual drawings. You may have one title block setup for one
project and a different one for another project. The Format File Wizard
depends on knowing the available fields. The Automatic reports depend on
being able to create a valid format .set file.

Right now I don't see a way to add this report to the Format File wizard and
Automatic reports.

Pat, could the entire drawing list report utility be moved from the project
manager to the automatic report generator and automatic report setup? If
so, all of the AcadE reports would be set up and generated from the same
place. Martin

Thanks, Pat. In my little world all of our pojects are the same since all of our systems are in-house and not for outside customers. This makies life seem quite simple, so its probably not so simple for the real-life users! Martin

Pat, I just have some suggestions, that may cause less confusion with the set files and prevent the wrong tables getting replaced with the wrong reports.

It would be nice on the Report Generator dialog box, if it would display the name of the active set file and if there is a table that would be overwritten and where the table is.

Also it would be nice to be able to change the set file from the Report Generator dialog box. Currently we have to cancel the command and start over again.
Thank You

Thanks for these suggestions. I will log them into our tracking system.

One item to note - in AcadE 2007 if you run a report and select Put on
Drawing when the Table Generator dialog comes up there are a couple of new
options in the upper left. If there is an existing table that willl be
updated the option Update Existing will be enabled and selected by default I
believe. If there is not existing table that matches the report/set file
this option is disabled. It doesn't do everything you suggested but is at
least an indicator that there is an existing table.

Thank you for your reply.

The new feature in 2007 has helped. But, there are still times I had the wrong table overwritten, because I picked the wrong set file at the start and there is no quick way to know you are using the wrong set file.

I have one more suggestion for the Report Generator. It would be nice if we could also pick an existing table to select the set file of that table, report format settings and the table generation setup, which I believe is stored as xdata on the table.

Thank You

Good suggestion. I will log that as well. By the way, my logging it is no
guarantee that it will be implemented but we do consider all suggestions
like this that are logged.

Thanks again,
