Safety Relays

Seems like the last post discussing these devices was in 2009, so I am just wondering if there is any new methods of creating these as smart blocks or is the PLC Parametric Build still the best option?

For the record, these are more then just a coils and contacts.

I have been drawing them as a hybrid; smart block for the power and channels and then created a dual contact symbol for the NO and NC contacts with the XREF located by the smart block.

This is a simple Safety Relay symbol.

You can see how the XREF is embedded internally in the safety relay itself.

And the NO Contacts for this relay.

(I had to doctor it a little bit. the link line would only insert across the upper set of contacts. I had to copy it down to the lower set...)

These are IEC style symbols.

I hope this helps.
