re assigning components

Hi Can anyone tell me if its possible to reassign a schematic component to become a One Line Component. I don't seem to be able to see or edit the WDTYPE attribute after its inserted..
Thanks
Graham

It may be hidden Xdata. You can use the Xdata editor provided to add or
change this. If it is Xdata then it needs to have the previx VIA_WD_. The
Xdata editor is in the Project tab, Other Tools expanded panel.

Some schematic symbols do not have the WD_Type attribute included with them. You can also use the Swap/Update Block command to exchange the existing schematic symbol with the equivalent One-line symbol that does contain the attribute.

Yes, and actually I was mistaken about the xdata. I don't think WDTYPE can
be xdata. I believe it is only supported as an attribute. Sorry about any
confusion I may have caused. Any component without a WDTYPE attribute is
identified by the usual method, that is if it has a TAG1, TAG2, TAG, etc.
attribute. One-line components can carry the same attributes as any
schematic symbol so they needed something further to identify them.

Yes.. i saw another thread this afternoon re one line diagrams that led me to the swap update block command and it does the job perfectly... of course now I know on future projects I will define one line components properly in the first place @! and avoid the need to change them.....

this is such a good forum for needy beginners like me!

thanks all
Graham
