"no previous view" error

OK, my previous posts were mere annoyances, but this one is a killer. I have tried editing both previously placed components and newly placed components. NEITHER gives me the edit dialog for catalog data, descriptions, pin number, etc. When I try to click on the object I get a "no previous view saved" message. I use a marble mouse (tracball) and have had an issue with the "right click" function being re-called after a click, meaning I have to hit "enter" or "esc" after a right-click selection to perform the function i selected. Are these related? I would suspect my marble, but the only program it has issues with is ACADE.

Mike,

Are you trying to edit the component by right-clicking on it and then
selecting the 'Edit Component' from the shortcut menu?
Also, do you know if you have 'Time-sensitive right-click' turned on in your
Options dialog?

One thing that might help me track this down is turn on the Command trace
option, Pull-down menu 'Projects->Extras->Command Trace Mode->Command Trace
On', and then right-click on a component and select the 'Edit Component'
option. Then hit the F2 key, do a right-click in the window and select
'Copy History' then paste all the history in a post up here so that I can
see when commands are running and were exactly it is failing.

I played with the right click stuff, and using the timed right click, I was able to get the right click issue to go away. The editing of components error didnt post anything to the screen when the glitch would occurr, so there was nothing to attach on that one. I did find that it was drawing-specific. The drawing was part of a project, had been saved, and had cross-reference updtae run several times. I create a new drawing and added the circuits from scratch, and replaced the old bad drawing with a new one. Works fin now.

The error about the "no previous view" is back. This presents a significant problem. If this keeps happening, I will be forced to go back to editing by hand using ACAD vanilla. I WILL NOT continue to rebuild drawings from scratch because this occurrs. I Like my job and dont feel like getting fired for accomplishing nothing for extended periods of time.

If this is related to a specific drawing, could you zip and email a copy to
me with instructions on how you get it to fail? I'll try to duplicate the
issue and figure out what's going on. Send privately to me at
nate.holt@autodesk.com.
thanks,
Nate Holt.

It seems the issue has a direct correlation to a startup error during the initial startup of ACAD

I'm with ACADE 2007 and I was wondering if there is a solution for this issue.

I'm getting the same message "No previous view saved" when I use the edit component command and the edit dialog box doesn't show up. Message was edited by: carlosrodrigues

I believe there was a problem with this if your Undo is turned off. You can
check this by looking at the system variable UNDOCTL. You can control this
system variable from the Undo command with command line options.
