HI

I got the same error whle istalling ACE2006 trial version on Win2000. This is 'coz if there is no ODBC installed u can not communicate to database. means ACE will not write to scratch databse. please look into your ODBC settings.

hope this will help u

I get this message when I installed the ACE 2007 software on my tablet PC. I am not familiar with the ODBC settings. Where do I find them and what should they be?

Here are some other steps that you might try to correct this issue. If you
are already logged on to the system with Administrator rights, this might
not solve the problem.

- Log on as Administrator (Maybe if you just have administrator
rights might also work)
- Run Acade
- Log off Administrator and then log back on as the normal user
- Run Acade and see if this updates the registry and corrects
the problem.

This would correct an issue with certain registry entries being incorrect.
When Acade gets ran there are some registry entries that it needs for the
AcePmClientApp ARX file (this is an ARX file that is failing to load when
this issue occurs). If you are logged on as administrator you will have
full rights for the Acade program to correct what registry entries it can
and this might solve the problem.

It can be solved if you know how to modify the registry.
These steps deal with manually modifying the registry and are NOT recommended for just any user to try. These steps should be carried out by an IT person or someone that has had a lot of experience with modifying the registry. If incorrect keys in the registry are modified or removed, it could cause the complete system to fail to boot.

1)Make sure you are logged in as administrator
2)If AutoCAD Electrical is running, close it
3)From the Windows Start menu select ‘Run’
4)Type in ‘Regedit’ and press ‘OK’
5)Expand ‘HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT’
6)In the expanded list, look for: ‘AcePmClientApp.AcePmTraySink.4’ and highlight it
7)Verify this is the correct key by looking in the status line at the bottom of the regedit window, it should read:
'My computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AcePmClientApp.AcePmTraySink.4'
8)With this key highlighted, right-click on the key and select ‘Permissions…’
9)In the ‘Permissions for AcePmClientApp.AcePmTraySink.4’ dialog, highlight the ‘Administrators’ group in the ‘Group or user names’ section.
10)In the ‘Permissions for Administrators’ section, toggle the ‘Allow’ option for ‘Full Control’
11)Press ‘OK’
12)Exit Regedit and run Acade

There is also an AutoCAD Electrical knowledge base article for this issue
at:

http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/ps/item?siteID=123112&id=7343143&linkID=4199150

If you are unable to get there from this link, just go to the Autodesk
support page and search the Knowledge base for the word: sink
