printing ole's in color

There is a surprisingly small amount of discussions that deal with this so I will explain my method.

Start with an excel spread sheet that has color in it...

Instead of simply copying directly into auto cad, use save as in excel to save the sheet into a pdf format.

Take the pdf format and drag that into auto cad.

You will be prompted for the sheet that you wish to insert.

Choose your sheet then past the pdf.  Do not resize the sheet

Repeat for additional pages.

In auto cad select the pdf object and use right click.  Use pdf clip.  Select new boundary to resize the pdf so it is more usable...

Align with other pdf's then select all pdf objects to scale to desired size...

Doing things in this way should allow you to print an excel sheet in color using auto cad.

Use “wip” to hide the pdf lines around the pdf objects.  Remember to turn the wipout lines off by using the commands inside the wip tool to turn the wipe frames off.

Nooooo...

Lazy technically :

PDFFRAME = 0

If you used a polyline put it in the defpoints layer.

Why?  What are you gaining by doing this?  If you insert the Excel spreadsheet as an OLE you can change the spreadsheet and it will update in the drawing.  Saving as PDF will break that functionality.

So so funny.  Ok so here is the deal with ole objects.  They have no color print setting in the print options.

To get to an ole's color print setting, you select the ole, then look under properties for print settings.

You don't even need to change your pdf print settings for color, you can just leave those black and white.  The ole will come out in color, but you have to change the ole's properties, threw the properties tool.
