PLEASE HELP!!, mystery lines showing up

Please Help,

We are having a problem with mystery lines or dashes showing up outside our drawing border. These entities are unselectable so we cant delete them, but if we zoom extents the zoom will include them. We tried exploding and purging every thin off the drawing and then deleting every item on the drawing and they are still there. and still unslectable. If we change layer 0 to frozen then they dissapear, but we have items on layer zero that we need so we dont want to do that.

Any ideas? Any advice will help

Thanks

Dave

Oh and I forgot to say that if you zoom in on them they disappear.

and we are using the latest version of Autocad electrical and have tried restarting the program and restarting.

Maybe it is usefull if you could attach a drawing to your topic.

One item I can think of is "Qtext" (a shot in the dark)
1) Type "Qtext" on the command line and turn it "on".
2) Type "regen" at the command line
3) Do a "zoom extents"
4) See if it possible to delete them
If yes, do not forget afterwards to turn Qtext back off and regenerate.

Peter,

I tried that "Qtext" command and that allowed me to select and delete the entities in question. Looks like they were text boxes with no text in them, but that is just a guess. I wonder why AutoCAD Electrical decided to create those entities.

Thanks for the help

Hi Dave,

The reason why you get these boxes is the next.
If you edit a text and press delete, you assume that the text is completely deleted, but no not with autocad. To completely delete text items you need to use the erase command (there needs to be text in the item).
We had the same problem in our company, but we where looking for a reason why some of our drawings took so much disk space. What happened, when you have blocks, or drawings with such items in it and you insert them into other drawings well .......... By using the Qtext we managed on some drawings to reduce the size by 50%.

Sidenote: To Autodesk. Maybe in one of you next releases you can take care of this problem.

Type in "E" (for erase command) on command line, press enter;
For "select objects" prompt type in "all", and press enter;
ACADE finds 91 object;
Press "enter".
This should delete your lines.
