PLC attributes - need to move INST, LOC, & TAG_1

Version 2008 SP1

I use the Spreadsheet to PLC I/O utility to build drawings of PLC modules (such as 1794-IB16) with one break in the middle. The result is each module in two columns with PLC attributes INST, LOC, & TAG_1 coming in sightly above the second column. However, we must relocate these attributes (and doing it manually on hundreds of pages after the build is not acceptable). There are many PLC terminal types and I have been trying to figure out which HP1*.DWG file to edit. Looking in the PLC Database Editor has not helped. When I right click and select 'edit terminal' most of the terminal types available for selection have a question mark instead of a graphic. Even if the graphics showed up, they wouldn't be any help since the DWG file names don't show anywhere in the 'select terminal information' dialog. All I can tell from here is that the block I want to edit is probably going to be a 'Module Info Input I/O point wire left' type. But I am no closer to figuring out which DWG file to edit.

So I quit attempting to figure out which block was being used through the PLC DB and tried to look into the PLC module build process.

After building the PLC module, exploding it separates everything into individual objects so I get no clues there. Even if I enter LOGFILEON and watch the command window during the subsequent build, it still doesn't list the DWG files used to assemble the module so I have no help there either. (I know it prompts that output description attributes can be moved by scooting but that didn't work - I need to be able to move only the three attributes listed - everything else is perfectly in place.) Is there an external log file I can browse to find this info? Or some other way to figure this out? Could some of this stuff be hard-coded in the wdio.lsp file?

Any help would be appreciated but I suspect this may only be answered by one of the Autodesk gurus...

Thanks.

poushag,

If you go into PLC Database File Editor and select the Settings button you
should see a dialog that looks like the attachment. In the grid in this
dialog you can select a cell in the Block File Name column and click the
View DWG button. This will show you a view of the block that will be placed
when a terminal with the given Unique Description is used in a module. I
think the information in this grid, showing the block name and the unique
descriptions might give you the information you are looking for. Notice
that the block names will change based on the Style that you select. I
think this should help you also in figuring out which block(s) to edit.
Also, if you click the Browse button in this dialog when you are in a cell
in the Block File Name column, it should take you right to where the block
is located. Hope this helps.

Regards,
Mike
