Parametric PLC cross reference

HI

I want to use the parametrice PLC as an overview of an entire PLC card and then cross reference to single I/O on various pages . I can get the single I/O to reference back to the parametric PLC but not the other way around . Any Ideas.

Sean, make sure the PLC module has an XREF attribute and that it is visible.
You can always add an XREF attribute to an individual module but if you
always want to see this you might need to add it to the library symbol used
to create the module. I can give you more information on that if this turns
out to be the case..

Hi Pat
Thanks for the response .
If you let me know more about adding permenent cross refs to the parametric sid eof the PLC I would greatly appreciate it.

Sean, when you checked the main PLC symbol after it was created, did it have
the XREF attribute, but it was invisible, or was it missing? What PLC module
were you inserting? What version of AcadE are you using?

Hi

We are using ACE2008. I tried to insert a Siemens PLC card 32DI 24 V The part number in the table is as follows "6ES7 321-1BL00-0AA0" . I check for hidden xref attributes but found none.

It looks like the library symbols that are used to build the PLC modules do
not have the XREF attribute on them. If you want one you would need to add
it to the set of top symbols. These are the symbols that carry the
attributes that you only want one of on the entire module, such as MFG, CAT,
INST, LOC, etc. You would add the XREF attribute definition to these
symbols. The naming convention for these is HP*L.dwg for horizontal and
VP*L.dwg for vertical. Only the ones that end in "L" are the ones that are
used at the top of the symbol. When you open the drawing if it doesn't carry
the attributes I mentioned then don't add the XREF to it. These library
symbols are in your schematic library folder.

Hope this helps,
