Multiple Insert And Copy Circuit

Hi,

Two questions:
1. If I do a multiple insert of terminals and choose not to show the edit dialog, the linkterm attribute gets the same value for all the terminals. Is this normal?? This gives some strange results in the terminal strip editor.
2. When doing a copy circuit the child components do not change their tag like the parent in the selection. Is there a way around this??

1. The linkterm should be unique for each terminal. I will look into this
issue and log if necessary. What version of AcadE are you using?
2. On a Copy Circuit the children should update to match the parent if the
parent is within the circuit. If the child's parent is not in the circuit
the child should be reset to the default family code. Make sure the check
box, Don't blank out orphan contacts, is not checked.

I am able to reproduce issue #1 on AcadE 2008 SP1. I will log this. I guess
you would either have to show the dialog for each or once they are all
inserted use the Break Apart Terminal Association and select each terminal.

Sorry for any inconvenience,

I'm using Acade 2008 sp1.
About the first question: Now that I found out this happened I'll do a break terminal association and the terminal strip editor give much better results.
About the second question: it's only when I copy cable markers. With regular components it does work. Can you tell me if this is an electrical issue. If not its probably my custom cable marker block?

I wasn't able to reproduce the issue with the cable markers in the copy
circuit. If you can post your symbols or send to me directly at
pat.murnen@autodesk.com, I can take a look at them.

Attached is a drawing with my cable markers. If I do 'copy circuit' then select 'Retag all' and 'don't blank out orphan contact' the parent cable marker is fine but the child cable marker keep the original cable tag.

Here components have the same problems as the cable markers.

Using the drawing you posted I did a copy circuit, selected the set that had
the 3 cable markers W1001. The new cable marker set got a tag of W1008 for
the parent and also for the 2 child markers. This is correct since it
retagged the parent to W1008 and the children in the copied circuit also got
updated.

I also tried copying just the child markers. I actually didn't get a dialog
but the child markers were tagged just W when complete. This is correct
since it couldn't find the parent in the copied circuit.

This is not what you are getting or am I misunderstanding the issue?

Can you be more specific? Are you saying that none of the children are
updated on a copy circuit? Can you post a drawing with some detail on what
you did and what the results were? You are on AcadE 2008?

After seeing Peter's reply I did some testing. I found out it has something to do with the "combined installation/Location tag Mode" option. When off all is ok but when on I get the problem. I attached my project file. (I had to change the extension because the forum doesn't except wdp)

Yep, none of the children are updated. It is just a copy circuit.
Why, well see the post in this topic added by Sven on Oct/10/07 - 08:24 (CST).

Peter, thanks for this information. I will verify and log if it hasn't
already been logged.

Peter, can you send me a project and drawing that this can be reproduced
with? My direct email is pat.murnen@autodesk.com.
