Andrew,
You can check the conversion tools under the project pull down menu. We have manage to convert promise article database to default_cat mdb. It was done manually by a database expert. As for the drawings we have moved them into AutoCAD Electrical projects but can not pull report from them. This was done back in 2004 version. I'll check 2008 version tools this weekend .

The Promis-e Conversion tool will get you close. Promis-e manages terminal
strips differently so you may have to manually edit the terminal blocks and
update the Strip ID. The Strip ID may appear in the first block of a strip
in Promis-e (when they are close) but not in the other blocks (i.e. TB1:1,
TB1:2, etc.). You can use the Component Edit tool in AcadE to define the
strip ID for the blocks that do not have it defined after a conversion.

Another point about the Promis-e conversion with regard to MFG data:
Because of the way Promis-e's article database is managed, the
manufacturer's name isn't available to AcadE's conversion utility. The
Promis-e conversion utility will only be able to bring the part number, or
Catalog Number as it is called in AcadE, over during the conversion process.
But once the conversion completes, you can use the Spreadsheet
Export/Edit/Update feature to quickly and easily enter the MFG names into
the MFG attribute that is added to the Promis-e blocks. Just export the
Component data using Spreadsheet Export. Then edit with Excel, save, and
import with the Update from Spreadsheet feature.
