imported symbol problem

I have an imported/converted symbol from RSwire which I want to modify and place it back in to a different project. The problem I have got is this.
when you check the attribute definitions it all looks well and good, acade terminology is all there. However, when the block is exploded the recognisable attribute definitions disappear and the rswire attribute definitions reappear.

My gut feeling is the problem is with nested block attributes. Is there a way of exploding this block and retaining all the attribute information.
Thanks in advance.

You might try the Special Explode under the Conversion tools. I'm not sure
if this will give you what you need.

No, it doesn't even come close. But thanks for reading.

Can you attach the block here? Maybe if I see it I can come up with
something. Can you give an example of a specific attribute and what it does
when exploded and what you want it to do?

All AutoCAD attributes on blocks when exploded revert back to the attribute
definition. This is normal behavior. The Special Explode actually converts
the attribute definition to a text entity keeping its attribute value. At
this point you can create an Autocad Electrical block from it using the
conversion tagging tools. This was the reason I thought of the Special
Explode. Sorry it didn't meet your needs.

Hi pat, the block was attached to the original post. The issue definately relates to nested block attributes which act as a mask over the original symbol attributes. What I am trying to do is extract the nested block and the data contained within it.

There doesn't appear to be any nested block here but I suspect that the
AcadE attributes were added on-the-fly to this block instance. When a block
is exploded it reverts to its original state as held in the block definition
table which wou;dn;'t include these attributes. I think your best bet is to
explode it and rename the attributes to the AcadE attribute names and
reblock. This can be done using the Symbol Builder or standard AutoCAD
commands.

Sorry I wasn't more help,

Use the "BURST" command

Nope no nested blocks.

The one who has changed the block used the command "add attributes" which is provided by AE. (look at doc attached)

This attribute becomes part of the block, you can put it anywhere, name it like you want, manipulate it like it was part of the block, even set it invisible but like you can see it is gone if you explode it.

Best way is to follow advice of Pat and make new block with appropriate attributes.

BURST is just changing attributes into text.

"add attributes" adds attributes to a block that has already been inserted on a drawing once exploded the attributes are gone. If you want to make a reusable block for AE explode your original block and use Symbol Builder to add the needed attributes and create your block.

Burst is called Special Explode in ACADE and is located on the All Palettes toolbar in the conversion tab.
