Sorry Patrick,
I don't think this 100% line-by-line text-font approach will work for what
you want to do. The only way I can think of to show the cross-reference
graphics like you show here is to create a separate cross-reference symbol
and then write an external post-processing utility (could be written in
AutoLISP) to populate the symbol's attributes with the cross-ref info. For
now, I guess you could let the existing data go in, copy it by hand to the
special cross-ref symbol you create, and then erase the AcadE cross-ref
leaving your manual version. Not a happy thought, I realize.

AutoCAD Compiled Shape file (AcadEref.SHX) can be used to change it. Can you
