Electrical Audit - child component with no parent

We have the "child component with no parent" error when we run the Electrical Audit on our project.
The parent is a control relay with 4 NO contacts.
Three of the child contacts are linked with a dashed link line in a circuit on another sheet. (The second and third contacts in the link are in the error list.)
All of the child contacts have the parent coil name reference value and the cross reference field values correct when we click edit component on the child contact.
Also, the parent coil has the line cross references for all 4 child contacts.
We can click on the child component referenced by the electrical audit error and "surf". The list displays the coil and only 2 of the other child contacts (as shown in the electrical audit).
We have run the "database rebuild" and nothing changes.
If we click on the child contact and reselect the parent coil in the edit component window it fixes the problem and the electrical audit no longer displays an error. We have several of these contacts and would like to fix the problem without editing the contacts one at a time.
We thought that the project wide component tag and cross reference update would do this but it doesn't.
Is this a bug or is there some other way of fixing the problem?
We are working with Autocad Electrical 2008. We have loaded a hotfix and Service Pack 1.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

I might be able to see what is happening if I look at the drawings before
the contact is "re-linked" to the parent. You can send them directly to me
at pat.murnen@autodesk.com if you don't want to post them.

Per our emails after I looked at the drawings you sent -

I found the issue. It is a little hard to explain but these child components
have a hidden xdata on them called VIA_WD_BASETAG with a value of the
default TAG value when the child is untagged, i.e. CR. This BASETAG value is
used to parse the tag under certain IEC conditions. Even though you aren't
using IEC tagging this seems to be causing an issue with these in that
AutoCAD Electrical is not seeing the correct Tag value on these.

To test this you can use the xdata editor (menu Projects->Extras->xdata
editor) and delete the xdata VIA_WD_BASETAG completely. Rerun the Electrical
Audit and see if this one doesn't show up anymore.

I will log this issue as it seems to have something to do with this basetag
value matching the default "untagged" value of the component.

Sorry for any inconvenience,
