Duplicates in BOM

As I generate a BOM the quanities are coming in as a double on nearly everything. Also, if I change a catalog item of a footprint (ie Dinrail) than both catalog numbers with the quanities are showing up in the BOM. Please help. Is there a way to remove duplicates easily somewhere? What have I done wrong?

Thanks!

Have you duplicated your symbols in some way.  For example, have you copied a section of your panel layout and scaled it up for a detail?  If so, you should use the Special Explode utility to strip out the data.

The common link between devices is the TAG assignment.  If two devices share the same tag, changes to one will trigger the software to change the other. For example, a schematic symbol tagged as CR115 is edited and the part number is changed.  The software will prompt to update the panel footprint as well.

I have not don't any exploding for scale yet. Also, when that prompt comes
up I always allow it to update to footprint in order to update the catalog
on both ends. It is on 95% of my components though. Even ones that I have
not edited in days.

If you could post your project I might be able to figure it out.

Sorry, I can't share the customers info. Is there any steps that I may be
able to try or direction I could be pointed to attempt a fix?

The only thing I can tell you is what I said before.  The link between devices is the sharing of the same tag assignment.  Anything with the same tag assignment gets updated when one of them is changed.  The software can differentiate schematic symbols from panel footprints so they don't get counted twice in the BOM.  But if you have duplicated footprints sharing the same tag, your BOM will list a double quantity for that part is the BOM.

Have you tried to rebuild the project database? Type AEREBUILDDB on the command line, check "Include wire connection processing" and press "Full rebuild".

Now, run your report again and see if the duplicates are still there.
