Drawing List Display Configuration Question

I would like to have my drawings numbered when I see them listed in project. I click on Drawing List Display Configuration and I click on Sheet Number (%) and click the double arrow to move it over to the right side under Current Display Order.

I've been able to do this without problems with other projects and the same items are selected in the Drawing List Display Configuration and it works fine. Can somone tell me what I may be missing with this project that is keeping the sheet numbers from showing up?

Also, I have the sheet number for each drawing entered in the drawing properties.

Thank you.

There was an issue with this in earlier versions. Click the Refresh button near the Drawing List Display Configuration button. I think the problem is corrected in version 2009 and I have not seen the issue with version 2010.

Dawn,

this isn't really my area but I did have a question - after you change the
setting if you then click the Refresh button on Project Manager does it show
the configuration you defined or is it still not showing the Sheet? What
version of AcadE? I can pass this on to someone who knows more about this
area than I do.

Dawn,

The sheet number is pulled from the project scratch database. So the
database has to be available and up to date for it to display properly. It
should be able to pull this out of the database ok, for the active project,
but if the database is not up to date or does not exist for a non-active
project, then you won't see it displayed in the Project Manager. Is this
possibly what you are seeing?

Regards,
Mike

Mike, in version 2010 there is no Project Refresh/Rebuild button. I modified my ribbon panel and added the Refresh/Rebuild button back, because there are times when a forced project-wide refresh is needed. I was told by someone at Autodesk that the reason the Refresh/Rebuild isn't in the Project Panel is because the project database manager maintains everything now without the need for a refresh. However, when I copy drawings from a backup and overwrite existing drawings, I need to force a refresh of the project. But what Michelle is describing was an issue with versions 2007 and 2008. Even with the database refreshed, the sheet numbers would not all display. Somtimes the sheet numbers for certain drawings would display and sometimes not. The only cure was the Refresh button in Project Manager.

Yes, Doug, I recall the Project Manager refresh issue, and I think happened
at startup. Then if the project was not modified to cause an automatic
refresh of the display (such as a change to the project file), the sheet
information would not be displayed for that project, until you clicked the
refresh button in the Project Manager. That may have been fixed in a
service pack, I don't recall.

As for the Refresh/Rebuild button in the ribbon you refer to, I wasn't
involved in that, so I couldn't comment on the particulars of it.

It's no big deal Mike. I had fun adding the Refresh/Rebuild button to the Project ribbon. It was good practice. I really like the ribbon menu. I didn't think I would like it at first but it has grown on me. It is so much easier to navigate the menu now. This makes it easier for me to teach the program as well. The ribbon has been well received by the students in my classes. When I unveiled AcadE 2010 for a class earlier this year, and showed them the ribbon menu, one person blurted out "Now that's more like it!" Others commented about how intimidating the old menu was because you had to sift through drop-downs and fly-outs trying to find the command you need at the moment, and it could be anywhere. They couldn't easily narrow down to only the group of commands needed at the moment. But with the ribbons that complaint is eliminated. If you had anything to do with the ribbon menu, thanks! I know us old-timers tend to get stuck on one way of doing things but the ribbon really won me over.

Doug,

I didn't come up with the design, but I like it too.

Mike
