The goofy characters are part of the Mtext formatting that is trying to
reference the special graphical symbol font file AcadEref.shx. This is not
showing up on your sample drawing's Mtext, but when I take your drawing,
ERASE the Mtext cross-ref and then re-run on my machine, the
cross-refererncing comes in looking correct (i.e. no goofy characters).
Maybe your system can't find AcadEref.shx? It should be in "c:\program
files\autodesk\acade 200x\fonts" folder and this needs to be one of the
defined AutoCAD OPTIONS support paths.

OK, heres what I have happenning. When I have the cross reference displayed
in graphical format, for some reason I get these extra characters displayed
along with my real references. Some of the symbols refer to actual cross ref
information, some don't. (See attached file, item Q2-1) The question is, how
do I eliminate ALL the cross ref info exceopt only what is valid at this
time. Can I delete all info and re-run the update? This also ties into the
PLC database sequences. If I insert a
PLC parametric block, but need to delete the block (using the proper erase
tool), when I insert a new PLC module, I get the next sequential listing.
How do I eleiminate all previous sequential numbers to have the "ghost" PLC
modules erased and only get the sequences that are valid? Are these database
edit issues? It's driving my boss nuts.
