Create path for additional database

I posted recently that I am trying to duplicate the PLC Parametric Selection window in AutoCAD. As of right now we have a category under AB for PowerFlex drives and then all of the drives we use to insert into AutoCAD. I am wondering if there is a way to duplicate this database and then somehow find a way to direct AutoCAD to this newly created database. Essentially the new database would be solely for the VFD's and the user could type in some kind of command to bring up a list of the VFD's from that new database. I have tried multiple approaches to finding a similar solution such as looking at the wd.env file and making changes, using the icon menu wizard to create a new category in the schematic tab, and I have messed around with the CUI feature as well. I haven't had much luck and I am open to any suggestions that may be out there.
