Connector

Does any one know how to split a connector onto two sheets with the ability to show each connection of the connector with the reference shown on each sheet?  Example: Female Connector on one sheet with a Source on each contact of the connector and the Male Connector on another sheet with a Destination on each pin of the connector.

You can use a stand-alone cross-reference. I also use them for PLC splits.

This is fairly easy...

1. Start the command to insert the connector.

2. Click the DETAILS button in the lower right corner if the dialog is not fully expanded.

3. Select Plug or Sockect only depending on what you are inserting.

4. Insert the Parent

5. Change to the second Dwg

6. Repeat steps 1 - 3

7. Select the box marked 'Start Connector as Child'

8. Insert the child connector.

9. Do a 'Project Rebuild'

10. If the Child dialog box does not come up, Select the child and edit it.

11. Click the Project button in the Component Tag section.

12. Select the Parent to the child from the list.

13. Click OK and all the data should pop up on the Child component including the cross reference and any descriptions.

A word of warning here - The connector dialog will remember what setting you have selected in the previous use. Make sure you check every setting each time.
