Child cable marker- Core colour doesn't work

I am using acade2006. I can't get the core colour dialogue box to appear when inserting/editing child cable markers. The next colour in the conductor list is offered but when either drawing or project buttons are hit, nothing happens. The command line states "processing 2 fo 2". The parent has a catalogue assigment, and does bring up the correct conductor list.
Please somebody end this frustration....

Hi,

The only way I can duplicate what you describe below is if my child cable
marker has a blank tag or a generic "CBL" tag. Under these conditions AcadE
will not be able to find a parent cable marker in the database and therefore
won't be able to grab a part number off the parent and find what cable cores
are available.

If the above doesn't describe your scenario, you can email me a dwg or set
and I can take a look. You can email privately if you'd like to
nate.holt@autodesk.com.

thanks,
Nate.

Not sure where the problem lay, but the solution was to install all the latest service packs/fixes (i've had a new pc recently).

thanks
