cant locate wire number

I can't seem to locate a wire number in a project that I want to use on a particular drawing. ACE2007 reports the wire number is in use but has not surf button to identify it's location. The scratch database says the wire number is on several drawings but it does not show up when I open them. Is there a way to surf to the ghostly wire number.

Did you already try the regular Surf command and at the command prompt where
it says "Select tag for "Surfer" trace (or to type it):" press
Enter. The dialog displays that has a place to type in a wire number.

Ok I get a list that coincides with the scratch database but I still do not see the wire number. It must be a wire that was assigned a fixed number hidden and then copied from drawing to drawing. Question is now how do I remove such a wire number with out erasing and redrawing all the wires. Apparently the erase wire number feature does not work in this case.

You can see invisible attributes by typing ATTDISP and setting it to ON
rather than Normal. You can erase each one then. Although, it sounds like it
is on multiple drawings rarther than one. Was it the Project-wide utilities
with the Remove All wire numbers option selected, that you tried already and
it didn't erase them?

I picked the delete wire numbers button off the Main electric 2 tool bar and window selected all the wires.

If you don't need to preserve all the other wire numbers you could try the
Project-wide Utilities Remove all wire numbers option. If you do need to
preserve the other wire numbers I can't think of another method besides
using the ATTDISP to make them visible and then erasing them.

Could the delete wire numbers function be fixed to work as effectively as the project wide erase wire numbers utility. I would think they should both do the same thing.
Thanks

I will log this but I'm afraid it won't help your immediate problem.

Did you try running Project->Reports->Electrical Audit report? Click on the
Wire Exception tab and you will be able to locate the duplicate wire number.
Double click on the row with the duplicate wire number to surf to the
location.
