Can't add wire layer

I am using ACE 2008 and have a recurring problem with wirelayers. On certain drawings I am unable to select certain layers as wire layers. All of the layers exist in the layer list and my .wdw file populates the wire layer list properly but it will skip certain layers. For instance I may have layers red_22 through red_06 in my layer list and my .wdw file but the red_14 will not show up in my wire layer list and if I try to add it using creat/edit wire type it does not show up. I also can not delete the layer from the layer list. This seems to happen with my most frequently used layers on a drawing to drawing basis.

I am also getting a recurring error that states "multiply owned object handle 104".

Any thoughts?

Josh? Post a drawing for me to look at. In the meantime, try running
drawing audit and see if it finds any zero length wire segments. These will
prevent you from deleting a layer. They happen sometimes when inserting or
manipulating wires. You think you clicked properly for each sgement of wire
but sometimes it inserts a zero length wire when you just barely click the
mouse. It doesn't look like you inserted anything so you assume it did not,
but there may be a stray zero length wire. Nate has caught me on that
several times over the years.

Could be an text problem also which resides on that layer.
If you do not use the erase command to get rid of a text, but you select it and press delete on the keyboard, your text is gone but in fact it is still there.
To see these empty text you use the command "QTEXT".
So type this on the command line:
Qtext
on
regen
zoom
E

To put your drawing back to normal:
Qtext
off
regen
zoom
E

You will see that all of your text are rectangles. Look for rectangles where there was previous no text.

Doug,

I tried the drawing audit (and the Qtext) and I still have the issue. Look at the drawing I attached. Red_14 is a layer but I can't add it as a wire layer. If I purge all layers it shows up, when I reinsert the layers with a script it disappears from the list.

Here is the script text: -LAYER NEW RED_14 COLOR RED RED_14

Thanks,
Joshua

Josh,

I am still looking the drawing over but I see some layer assignment issues
already. See the attached. One wire assigned to two different layer names,
FU_RED_14 and RED_14.
