Can Not Rename Drawings in ACE 2009

I am having a consistent problem when trying to rename drawings by right clicking on them in the project manager in ACE 2009. The drawing name will flicker, the folder will close and then reopen and the drawings will appear and disappear. I then right click again and it does it again but never allows me to edit the name. It will only function normally and allow me to rename about 10 percent of the time. I never had this problem in previous releases. Any solutions?

I have a few questions for you to help me understand what is happening. So
you right click on the drawing, and before the right click menu comes up the
drawing name flickers, the folder closes and reopens, and the drawings
appear and disappear? Does the right click menu only come up some of the
time? Does the rename work if you left click on a selected drawing?

Thanks,
Mike

Hi,

Scenario is like this: Project Manager is open with drawings in project displayed. I highlight the drawing I want to rename, right click and select rename. The folder immediately closes (all the drawings are not displayed) and then opens (all of the drawings diplayed). The drawing remains highlighted. When it does this I can continue this indefinitely and it won't insert the cursor to allow a rename. Sometimes it works with no problems. It will rarely let me rename 2 in a row when it does work. I have been using ACE since the VIA WD days and never had this problem. I am using windows Vista with release 6.0.50.0.

Thanks,

Joshua

Joshua,

I can't seem to duplicate this here. Would it be possible for you to create
an AVI (video) file of this? It could be that I don't have the exact
settings set that create this scenario, or that I am not doing the exact
same things you are.

Thanks,
Mike

Joshua,

You can send it to:
mike.spitzer@autodesk.com

However, be sure to zip it. If it is more than 10 megabytes our servers
won't accept it.

Mike

The renaming program I use is found at www.den4b.com. It works great.

Joshua,

Thanks for the video. I am now able to reproduce it. I haven't pinpointed
the exact cause, but I will log the issue to have it looked into in more
detail. I have noticed that it seems to be time dependant. If you give the
listing a second or two after it refreshes, then it seems to work ok. I
also noticed that I had a much harder time reproducing the issue if I
selected a drawing and then left clicked on a selected drawing, to start the
inplace edit of the filename. You might try these two things as work
arounds for now.

Regards,
Mike
