Cable shields - why can't I get it to work?

The question is in the subject line. All I want to do is show a shielded cable, complete with core colours.

I select each wire in turn after selecting Miscellaneous>Cable markers with shields>Cable with shield but I get no dialogue box to enter the core colour until I right-click at the end. The end result is shown in the attachment - not exactly what I intended - no opportunity to label the other cores.

After looking at the drawing you sent and at the symbols in the iec2 folder
it looks like maybe the attribute name is incorrect on at least the
HS0_21.dwg, HS02_1.dwg, and HS02_2.dwg library symbols. I will log this.
Try changing the library symbol so that the right link attribute is X2LINKR
rather than X8LINKR. Make sure to remove any existing ones from the drawing
you are working on and purge the blocks.

Sorry for any inconvenience,
Pat Murnen

DavidC, can you provide a drawing that you tried to insert this on? Either
post it here or you can send it directly to my email at
pat.murnen@autodesk.com.

Thanks,
Pat Murnen

Hi Pat or anyone watching this post,

The problem with the shield insert seems to exist in ACADE 2009
The install is an upgrade from 2008 - since uninstalled.
I had no call to use the shield in 2008 so never picked up on this

Any suggestions what to do first to resolve this? (IEC symbols)

The HW2_ symbols seem to have the left right link tags but the right link
doesn't fill

Thanks DavidC

FYI this problem still exists in ACADE 2012 with block VW02_1T (Cable with shield All 2nd) in the JIC library. I was able to fix it by renaming the X4LINKL and X4LINKR attributes to X1LINKL and X1LINKR. However, making that change caused the TAG2 attribute to move to the last (shield) cable marker block in that linked group (i.e., it hid the TAG2 on the first--leftmost--block and unhid it on the last--rightmost--block). Weird.

ACADE 2014 and the problem is still there. Renaming the attributes solves the incomplete symbol but the misplaced tag is still an issue.
