Cable shield on MULTIWIRE

Hi,

is it possible to insert cable marker with cable shield on a multiwire (fan-in/out case). It need to be also reported correctly in wiring report. See the attached image. The shield connection in this case is connected both ends.

Hi Mako  and others

I looked at your drawing

The short answer is YES.

I draw a wire or line depending on if I need a wire number on the shield.

Draw from the device and up through the shield symbol.  Then clip it back to the position you have drawn.  I have not been able to snap to the quadrent of the half circle in the symbol.

I question your use of using the shield as an earth cable.  You should NEVER earth both ends of a shield cable as this will cause circulating currents.  Nor shall it be used as a 0 Volt conductor in any rx232/422 etc system.

It is customary to earth the end at the sacrificial device unless noted by the device manufacturer.

Cheers  John Q
