Can you attach a copy of your symbol ".dwg" file to your message so I can
look at it ?

Hi,

I tried the attached symbol and it seems to work fine. I use the normal
Insert Component command and enter in the path/name of your symbol in the
edit box in the bottom left-hand part of the icon menu. I tried it on demo04
drawing of the WDDEMO sample project. Each time I insert it, it gets a new
tag-ID based upon its position along the ladder's line references.

Maybe you can attach the drawing showing your ladder and several inserts of
this symbol?

Nate.

You merely have to add the path(s) to your custom files to the project library path. Right-click on the project in Project Manager and select Symbol Libraries. Add your path(s) in front of what is there, seperating each path with a semicolon (;).

I believe your block name is the problem. ACADE keys off the block name. Rename your block to V_N1_SSR1 and all should work. I have similar SSR's. I design to IEC standards. The N is the proper designator for an SSR within the IEC. If you prefer the tag to be SSR that's fine. The important thing to know about naming blocks is that the first character needs to be "H", indicating wires coming in horizontally, or "V" for wires coming in vertically. If you have a symbol with wires connecting both vertically and horizontally, use "H". The next two characters indicate the family of the component. You must use only two letters. For example "SS" for selector switch, "CR" for control relay. You cannot use 3 letters for the family type. Since the IEC normally uses single character tags (i.e. "S" for switch, "Q" for circuit breaker, "G" for power supply) insert an underscore "_" as a placeholder in the 3rd position of the name. The last position of the block name should be "1" for parent/stand-alone or "2" for a child. For example a relay coil is a parent and a relay contact is a child. Use "1"for components that have no children.

Clarification: In the block name VN_1_SSR1 everything past the 4th character is optional. You could put the part number or anything you wish that would make the block memorable to you.
