Autodesk crashes while loading AcConnectWebServices.arx

Hello,

I have just installed AutoCAD Electrical 2015. When I try to start it up, it crashes while loading plug-ins... AcConnectWebServices.arx

Has anyone had this problem and if so what did you do to solve it?

Below is a picture of the failed application:

Try a repair install.  I assume that you have administrator rights.

You might also refer to this notice under AutoCAD Electrical Support.

Hi Travis,

The Webservices are actually loading in 360 functionally.

Two things come to mind to trouble shoot the issue.

1. Try starting AutoCAD Electrical, bring up the task manager and kill the adsync.exe process (if it is there).

See if it gets past the lockup point. (if it does disable the online services, Options> Online tab> Clear the enable button)

2. Uninstall (Then re-install) Autodesk 360 then run all updates for Autodesk 360 prior to launching AutoCAD Electrical again. (See if it was a bad install)

Make sure you Install with the proper procedures (i.e. turn off anti-virus, [only for the install], make sure you have admin Privileges)

If you still have issues after trying these (or you need some help with the steps), let me know.

Edit: Didn't see Doug's post before posting mine, but a windows update is likely as well (So make it 3 things to try).

Hello James and Doug,

I have tried all three solutions and I am still getting the same crash of AutoCAD.

1. I had the windows update (KB2962872 - July 8, 2014) which I uninstalled and then retried the AutoCAD application, this resulted in the same crash when loading AcConnectWebServices.arx

2. I checked the task manager but there was no process called adsync.exe, there was an acad.exe and a AcePmComServer12.exe

3. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling Autodesk 360 and then trying AutoCAD, also tried not even installing Autodesk 360 and I am still getting the same crash as I was before.

Any last ditch solutions?

Thanks a ton for the suggestions by both of you gentlemen.

Hi Travis,

I have seen in past that a proxy setting is IE contributing similar errors.

Please check the Internet Explorer connection settings for LAN as follows:

Open IE, go to Internet Options > Connections > LUN settings > Local Area Network (LAN) Settings, clear ‘Automatically detect Settings’, ‘Use automatic configuration script’ and ‘Use a proxy server for your LAN’ check boxes.

Please also verify that KB2976627 is actually uninstalled, just in case Windows update may have it reinstalled.

Now start ACADE and if it crashes and opens a CER (Certified Error Report) submission window, please submit a CER and provide the CER number or an email address you include with the CER.

Best regards,

Hello Gents,

I have tried all the proposed solutions and so far none have worked. I will keep looking into this and report if I find a solution.

Thanks again for your input.

Hi Travis,

I have a few questions:

What version of Windows are you using?

Is it a network based license or Standalone?

You could try these steps:

http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD...

Do you have any older versions of the software running at the same time?

If possible can you post the detials from the windows log (it should log the program crash)?

Regards,

James

Hello James,

What version of Windows are you using?

I am using Windows 7.

Is it a network based license or Standalone?

I am using a network based license.

I originally installed AutoCAD Electrical on the 2nd of September, and on the 4th I uninstalled all autodesk files and reinstalled AutoCAD Electrical.

On a side note, I am able to run AutoCAD Electrical when I click on a drawing to open the program. This allows me to use most of the autocad functions, but if I click on the tab to open a new drawing the AutoCAD application has stopped working error message pops up and AutoCAD Electrical crashes. Also if I hit the Sign In button on the ribbon AutoCAD application has stopped working message pops up.

From looking at the logs it seems that I cannot log into the license server, if that is the case, is there a way to point the AutoCAD Electrical license lookup in the right direction after install?

Thanks again for all the help,

Hi Travis,

If you look in:

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2015\Acade

You will find licpath.lic this is where the host info is stored (sometimes you have to type in the IP address instead of the host name).

Can you login with another user to see if the program fails with the other user? ( helps narrow down the issue)

Based on what you described it almost sounds like the CUI files is the issue.

I'm pretty sure its one of the components thats not deleted when you do a normal uninstall/ reinstall.

Do you know if you went to:

C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 2015\R20.0\enu\Support

to make sure it was empty prior to the re-install?

If you have access to another computer with the program installed can you try copying over the ACADE.CUIX file and see if it still has the same issues?

You could also try blowing away the Cascadeinfo file, if the issue is license related (maybe its half working somehow?)

The cascadelicense info file is located in (make a backup of it jsut in case):

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Adlm\cascadeinfo.cas

I hope this helps,

James

Travis is now on holidays so I'm taking over this fiasco.

Your suggestion didn't work either, Autodesk has us uninstalling, fixit tools, we've uninstalled and installed this so many times now.

AutoDesk has claimed it's not a licensing issue. We are now in the process of trying to turn off Digital Guardian and see if that works.

Thanks everyone for your help I'll keep you posted

Hello there!

I too have the same problem from time to time, and here's what i have to do to get it running again.

1. shut down all of the autodesk software (for me that means Inventor, autocad, prpso, navis, or anything else)

2. kill all autodesk processes in task manager

3. restore default settings (start menu/all programs/autodesk/acad/reset settings)

Sometimes, i have to restart pc, sometimes i have to repair installation itself.

And then, i have to set every custom thing i have in autocad back.

And it's all because of the infocenter.

This seems to have worked for me.  Actually the red bold line was the only thing I had to do and it worked.

Windows

  1. If you don't see the Get Started screen, delete the following LGS.data file.
C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\ProductKey_ProductVersion.0.0.F\LGS.data
For example, in AutoCAD 2019, the file may be here: C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\CLM\LGS\001K1_2019.0.0.F\LGS.data
  1. For a single-user license, delete the following folders and files:
    • C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ADUT
    • C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ADUT (if it exists)
    • C:\Users\user\AppData\local\Autodesk\Web Services\LoginState.xml

Note: If the folders and files are hidden, see Show hidden files.
  1. Restart the Autodesk software.

@jorgeseptien Thank you so much!!! Your suggestion solved my problem. I just renamed the LoginState.xlm file in the location you provided to a different name and all of a sudden all Autodesk software came to life. Unfortunately, I did this after reinstalling the operating system and all software...
