Auto Publish to PDF Poor quality

Hello there,

We are using autopublish to produce PDF's of Schematics for issue to clients. However the text quality is poor and broken, of varying lineweight when viewed at full screen of an A0. The text is not too small to read, just too poor quality to read. It is fine if you zoom in. Is there any way to improve this?

I have tried adjusting settings, printing the normal way using DWG to PDF.pc3, but not seen any improvement.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Have you tried changing the shader viewport quality to Maximum, and disabling the plot lineweights check box when using the DWG to PDF plot configuration?

Sometimes selecting "monochrome.ctb" in the Plot Style Table (pen assignments) will cancel the differences sceen when plotting a drawing with different lineweights.

Yes Tom, I have tried that, it makes no visible difference

Thanks,

Phil.

Electricman1,

I have tried selecting monochrome, and the text is still hit & miss.

See the attached example.

There is nothing to fix inside AutoCAD: your problem is your PDF reader display settings (a real problem in Acrobat products, not so much in other brands).
Which version of Adobe Acrobat are you using and what are its display settings page entries set to?

Try setting the LWDEFAULT variable in AcadE to 30.

This will give you a wider default linewidth for your drawings.

Pendean,

Yes, I see what you mean. I've just tried Foxit and it is fine.

I am using Adobe Acrobat 10.1.8. with settings as attached jpeg.

Rhesus,

Hi, I am trying to avoid adjusting lineweights, as that causes other problems, ie printing from AutoCAD.

Regards,

Phil.

Acrobat Reader blows: I stuck with R9 to avoid R10's display issues.
In R9 here is a screenshot of my page display settings that seem to work better (not as good as FOXIT).

Hi philtur,

Could you please try following in your adobe reader to see if this can improve your viewing experience?

In the preference setting dialog of Adobe reader, please uncheck "Smooth line art".

In Some adobe reader version, you probably need to change "Smooth Text" value to be able to uncheck "Smooth line art" option.

I also attached a snapshotfor for your reference.

That has solved it.
