Assembly/Subassembly Question

I think I understand it; but I would like to know if there is a way we can do the following, either with AutoCAD: Electrical 2009 proper or with a LISP code, probably as a user post.

Without going into all the details we have a assembly that is made up of 20+ different parts. This is no big deal, as I know I could use assembly/sub-assembly relationships in the catalog and I believe this translates to multiply catalog too, right?

Well we would like to take those parts and generate them in a list of their own, without the assembly, listed in the report. I believe I could do this in a LISP code since under the scratch database "Parent/Child" column there is 1,2, & 99, for Parent, Child, & sub-assembly respectively, right? My question can I do this without any additional code and if not can I do this in a report, as a User Post?

Now, to expand on this question, can I then take that above assembly and make it a sub-assembly for an another assembly? I will then want to do the same thing as above; but strip out the sub-assembly, in a different report.

So, to reiterate, I would really like to know if I have access to the "Parent/Child" variable in the "User Post" list or if there is some other way to JUST do a report on a assembly or sub-assembly?

I will probably try it, even if I do not hear an answer; but it takes me longer, then most here to work through code, so I want to know if this is information you are willing to share.

Thanks you,
Chris

Well I do realize I made one mistake and that is the multiply catalog number P1C1 number is not 99; but 3XX, where the XX is whatever the multiply catalog drop-down menu is.

I am still looking for an answer to the above.

Thanks again.

If you always group the same parts together, why
not just add the MFG01, MFG02...MFG99 and CAT01, CAT02...CAT99 attributes
permanently to your footprint symbol or schematic symbol so they are
automatically added to the BOM when you pick the master part?
